Is Miss America 2000 a liar?
I just don't see the reality of her story;

The sun shines one direction, right? In the process of turning you are shifting 90 degrees. So how can the sun be in your eyes for all 90 degrees?

And anyway, how fast can you even be going in a Navigator to make a 90 degree turn?

I just don't see driving blindly. She could have easily stopped if she couldn't see.

Was this woman messed up on pills, like Rush?

1. Pills, alcohol? Authorities will test her blood next month.
It's the least we can do for a trophy.

2. I don't think so....
Since she's on our side, I will give her the benefit of the doubt until I see proof otherwise.

3. very easy
i've been blinded by the sun in a turn before and almost hit someone on one occasion in downtown (sun was reflecting badly off one of the nice shiny buildings).

not saying there can't be other factors, but blind spots caused by the sun is not unheard of, IMO.

4. It happened to me
Making a right hand turn off a freeway exit, I couldn't see there was a car in the lane and bumped into it. The sun completely blinded me for a moment. It can happen.

5. Sun or no sun
IF you're going to drive a car, SUV, truck, moped, goat cart...it's your responsibility tokeep it under control. Heather didn't control her vehicle. O.E.D.

One question:

Which way was the cyclist traveling? If the cyclist was riding against traffic, the accident is the cyclist's fault. If with traffic, it's Heather's fault.

Heather still should have been aware of other vehicles and pedestrians in her vehicle's path. If you can't see to drive for any reason-STOP!

but its better not to...

on edit let me add: You people have obviously never lived through a personal tragedy resulting from an accident. You need a little less cynicism.
