The White House said we need this.

They just keep calling. This is GOOD.

1. I shot him an email...
asserting that it's a non issue meant to divert us. like that business about the president saying he wanted to open endagnered animals to hunting. non issues to keep us bickering and diverted until after the election. hope he doesn't flame me for not calling to discuss it. i'd call him but hanging on the line for up to an hour or more is something i can't hack.

i love the freep calls. is it just me, but do they almost always sound like the same guy? the combination of their escalating tone plus Bernie's speaker must do the trick.

i do like his take on the marriage thing. just outlaw divorce if they're really serious. but they really aren't serious, are they.

4. You left out Condi's onslaught on Cuba.
You're right. It's all about distraction.

The Bushies have been firing off charges against anyone and everyone in recent days.

Looks like there's no Pigboy to carry the ball. The reserves have been brought to the front.

9. "The reserves" ?????
LOL!!!!!!!

Even the shrub is sort of in that category these days. With the golden microphone gone silent, the little potted plant is even going to give reports himself. Now that's desperation reachng the level of a hail mary play!

I completely forgot about the Cuba thing. Why not send Bernie an email about it being a diversion. If you do, consider mentioning that you agree with Eleny. If it's a slow night, it might give him a chuckle since he hasn't read mine out loud. Hee-hee

11. Done.

Bernie,

I simply can't see this as anything but another distraction from Treasongate and the Iraq quagmire.

Eleny at DU also subscribes to this allegation.

Rice Urges International Pressure on Cuba

CHICAGO, Oct. 13 -- Branding Fidel Castro a tyrant, White House national security adviser Condoleezza Rice called Monday for renewed international pressure against the Cuban leader.

Speaking days after President Bush said he would begin tight enforcement of a ban on travel by U.S. citizens to Cuba, Rice said Castro's crackdown on dissidents has brought him worldwide condemnation.

"This needs to be an international effort," she told a meeting of the Inter American Press Association in Chicago. "It is unacceptable that Cuba remain in the state that it does in this hemisphere at a time when democracy and freedom and prosperity are within grasp. . . . It should not be that the Cuban people are forgotten."

Cuba rejected the renewed pressure from Washington for reforms and said Bush was "dreaming" of a post-Castro transition.

A Cuban Foreign Ministry statement in Havana said steps announced by Bush to hasten political change on the island were aimed at securing the votes of the Cuban exile community in Florida, the pivotal state in his controversial 2000 election.

16. What fun!
I hope the radio folks besides Malloy and Guy Williams know that we listen to them at the same time. I find it so helpful when people post about programming that's about to start. Hubby and I are also going to pick up that transmitter for the audio output.

Interesting to read the later posts here in the thread about Bernie, too. I didn't know his background. In restrospct, it makes his handling of last night's topic all the more interesting.

3. He gave one guy a lot of time
The longer the call went on, the more obvious the caller was in outing himself as a homophobe. Bernie played it just right and let him go on and on.
