1. what's his position on trade ?
i guess that's the issue it would depend on. i think clinton is more liberal than he governed since he knew he had limits to his power and tried to get done what he could. on issues of issues like gun rights, abortion rights, gay rights i think they are the same. although clinton signed the doma , it was a political move and i don't feel he actually was for it personally.

2. Party matters.
I have really turned into a rabid partisan over these last 15 years. When it comes down to some really crucial stuff like judicial nominations, it's all about how many votes you have in your caucus.

As to your question, I don't know enough about Chafee to answer... but Clinton is no liberal in my eyes.

5. The people in California will be pleased to know that....
after the repukes(and their repuke governor, Schwarzengroper) get finish screwing them again on electricity. "But, he's liberal."

Who the hell would want to be a Democrat? With all the shit they have to take from the left side of the aisle.

6. Chafee helps keep the Senate under Frist's control.
That makes it irrelevant how liberal he might be.

I don't understand the starry-eyed admiration one finds here for so-called "moderate Republicans." By keeping the Congress in the hands of people like DeLay and Frist, they're as much a part of the problem as, well, DeLay and Frist.
