WA (R) Rep Nethercutt sticks foot in mouth
Referring to the "happy Iraqi" stories:

"It is a better and more important story than losing a couple of soldiers every day."

15. Yep
Babs Bush's breezy "beautiful mind" comment hardly made a ripple.

23. It's up to us to get the word out.
Will Pitt, are you preparing a catalog of all these infamous quotes by the RW? Is anyone? I started one but I think I have missed a lot. We need a central repository that can be presented to the radio talk show hosts. Some notable quotes have come from Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, Cheney, Bush, Condi, Powell, Cooulter, Hannity, O'Reilly, Newt, Bauer etc.

29. Also look into compiling a book, morebunk
FAIR did "The Way Thing Aren't: Rush Limbaugh's Reign of Error." It was a blow-by-blow debunking of Limbaugh's goofball and/or bigoted pronouncements of years past. Surely you could do that. Call it "Whose Side Are You On?" or some such title.

2. That is dispicable.
"and the Americans are spending 3,500 percent more on health care than Saddam Hussein did, Senor said."

I cannot believe these guys....every American should be insulted that our tax dollars are going for their hospitals, not ours, their health insurance, not ours!!!

How can the death of soldiers be less important than how well the electricity works in Iraq?

These people are ghouls.

3. "So in five years or less, we're out of there," said Nethercutt
Hmmm. Wonder if he told his constituents he knew all along it was a 5 year, $500 billion war.

4. WTF???????????????????????
WTF? WTF? WTF? WTF????????????????????????????????????????????????

I simply CANNOT believe that anyone, even a wingnut and ESPECIALLY not a politician, would even consider saying such a thing! And THIS is the party that's supposed to be the only true patriotic "support the troops" party????????????????????????????????????? EVERYONE needs to get this quote out to as many people as they can, and as many of their local papers as they can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!

5. Okay, fine. A "couple of soldiers a day" no problem to you?
Then lets talk about the $87 billion plus being spent.

THAT is freaking out the wingnuts everywhere.

Funny how it all comes down to money and power for these bastards. They don't give a flying F about anyone getting blasted, maimed or killed. Just don't spend money unless its for corporate welfare, borrowing tax dollars to give tax breaks to the ultra wealthy, etc

8. Exactly...the selfish greedy instincts will override the patriotism.
Wingers don't want their money going over there anymore than they want their money going to welfare queens.

10. Nethercutt, sounds like another term for ass-crack,
an apt name in this situation. I'd like to get Rep. Ass-crack together with the next-of-kin of some of those dead soldiers and have him repeat that line to them. I'm sure they'd agree with him, don't you? BTW, where is he on the chickenhawk scale?

his henchmen are on...how great everything is in Iraq! Read this morning that it must be working, Bush's approval rating on Iraq is back up! I'm am so sick of this propaganda and how the idiot voters of this country buy into it. How can this great seat of true religion possibly agree with 'pre-emptive' war?

12. I wonder whether the families of troops killed in Iraq feel this way.
For that matter, families of U.S. troops in Iraq who are still alive and unwounded. Nethercutt doesn't seem to know how to smile correctly when delivering 'happy news' for his cronies, the Dubya gang.

Nethercutt's e-mail site is below. Dave Ross's radio show on KIRO is covering his comments now. As expected callers are totally outraged.

18. more important?
Happy Iraqis are more important than dead Americans?

I'll never again underestimate the utter gall of these people, or their contempt for the working class (where, after all, most cannon fodder is drawn from).

I wonder how many soldiers from Washington State have been killed so far? I'd guess none, or he wouldn't dare say something so evil.

19. As part of his "Good news" round-up, Mitch McConnell (R-KY)...
...pointed out that the Iraqis were losing more people than we were. I kid you not. Check out his press conference with Senators Thomas, Burns, and Chafee.

Gee, Mitch, that makes all those military families feel A LOT better!

where he apologizes for being caught speaking his mind.

Hell, he could even say he wanted to shoot Brittany Spears.

Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 12:46 PM by God_bush_n_cheney
and asked for an explanation. I asked the girl to explain his position to my friend who's son is missing a leg due to Iraq. She said Iraq has more electricity than they did before. Price...lots of American Blood.

I am seething with rage right now!

24. This Is The Man Who...
has been selected by the Republican National Committee to be their standard barrier in their promise that Washington State will be the Georgia of the next election. Thankfully, most of the state will still be voting with paper ballots and not voting machines.

25. Paper ballots not a panacea
Remember, King County has Diebold counting their optical scan ballots. As King County goes, so does Washington State, as a rule, because it's the biggest county.

You have Sequoia touch screens in Snohomish.

If they get a wrap on Pierce County, it's all over for sure.

EVERY person in Washington State should be yelling to the:

Governor
Secretary of State (who wants Internet voting)
State legislators
County auditors
County council members (who may decide what systems counties spend
their money on)

Call for voter verified paper ballots from EVERY voting system.

It was the state Republican chairman who months ago said they'd deliver Washington State to Bush next time around.

30. He's a dishonest liar
He broke his campaign promise of 1994 to serve only 3 terms. Remember he said he'd "be listener not a speaker" (in refernce to Tom Foley). Well he has proven to be a dishonest, offensive speaker.
