'1500 Iraqi schools refurbished'; electricity restored to pre-war levels;
'more Iraqis are being killed than US soldiers' and on and on with the one-liners that are part of the incessant Bush PR campaign. For each one of these very midleading statements I have a response.

1500 Iraqi schools refurbished: Refurbished from damage that coalition forces have been reigning on Iraq since Desert Storm? Before Desert Storm (and under Saddam) the Iraqi people had one of the highest literacy rates in the world...including women and children. This is a people with a rich history, the very seat of civilization and the US administration is painting them as some backward, third-rate nation of brain-washed idiots. Before Desert Storm, even with the internal wars of Saddam, the Iraqi people on the whole enjoyed highly sophisticated educational system, water and utility systems to rival our own...remember the hanging garden of Babylon are Iraqi achievements...and a socialized medical system that served all levels of Iraqi society. The fact that there are even 1500 schools to be refurbished is something to take note of. How many more were completely destroyed by the US?

'More Iraqi people are being killed than US military": This is supposed to be an indication that things are not as bad as they seem in Iraq. Well, for starters the Iraqis out number the US military by at least 1000/1 so it stands to reason that any terrorist act will kill more of them than US soldiers. But notice that no one will give you a 'rate' or 'percentage' of those killed. The terrorist would have to kill 3000 people a day to get rates equal to the rates for US military being killed daily.

The electricity rates pre-invasion were not something to brag about, especially considering the damage we did during 13 years of bombardment. If they restore electricity to where it was before DESERT STORM, then that would be a major achievement.

Another bit that is being spun is that 70% of the people polled in Iraq say they want the US troops to stay. Have we forgotten that when Saddam was in power 95% of the people said they loved Saddam? These people are survivors, not idiots. Where the hell do they think the resistence is coming from? Foreigners and pro-Saddamists could not do it alone. We are brainwashed fools in this instance. And it saddens me to see Chaffe taking part in this propaganda ploy. I bet that Congressional group was not allowed to speak with Iraqi people 'un-minded' by our folks.

Just watch out folks, the PR campaign is going to get more intense as Rush takes down at least 25% of the RW-cabal and Wilson affair takes down another 25%.

1. Pre-war electricity would be over 9 megawatts, we are at 4 megawatts

which is the level pre - 2nd war.

And they do not say how much of that we are buying from other countries with US tax dollars - as in the ENRON "sending" power to California.

Likewise water is not up tp pre-war - Bush the father refused to let them buy Clorine - causing infant deaths to increase by 500,000 over the 10 years since Gulf 1 (based on the death rate increase over the 80's death rate when they had clorine for their water).

Clinton tried to get that Clorine ban removed but was stopped by the GOP who controlled Congress.

There is a lot of blood on the hands of the GOP in Congress.

2. I want to know how they poll people without PHONES? Did they visit
the concentration camps currently incarcerating more than 10,000 liberated iraqis? Or did they go poll the hospitalized legless, armless, blind, mutilated victims of the bombings, raids and checkpoint attacks?

Or perhaps the pollsters went door to door, breaking down doors with tanks, holding the iraqis at gunpoint, on their knees, in the dirt while ransacking their homes, stealing their possessions and then allowing the pollsters to question them with a gunbarrel pointed at their ears.

Yeah, I got their "iraqi's polled" right here.

7. Yeah, actually.
They went door to door in Baghdad. And last I heard, Gallup doesn't have organic armor.

What's this you're talking about with 10k in camps?

3. What is this post trying to accomplish exactly?
Do you have any particular suggestions?

I admit I might be getting this wrong, but you seem to be saying that the people murdering our troops and Iraqui civilians are somehow just?

4. This post is "just" trying to tell the whole truth, that's all
Which has been in as short a supply as the troops' food, water, combat pay and body armour!

5. I'll bet this poll is as accurate as an Internet Poll
We all know that ALL polls are Freeped these days.

Wanna bet some Freeper like that Lt. Col. and his GOP Team Leader Letters have Freeped that poll?

Who would be dumb enough to take the "not Freeped" side?

8. The media needs to ask how many schools were open before war?
And how many hospitals? And why did they close? Did we have anything to do with schools and hospitals being closed? And now that we open some of them, that is progress? That is one of the "good things" happening in Iraq?
