Poll: Democrats poll well against Bush
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 09:15 PM by pruner
By Will Lester

Oct. 14, 2003  |  WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrats match up well against President Bush in a new poll that highlights his vulnerability on Iraq and the economy.

The ABC News-Washington Post poll found that 49 percent of registered voters would support an unnamed Democrat and 44 percent would support Bush in a head-to-head matchup.

<snip>

Among individual candidates, Howard Dean had the support of 17 percent of Democrats and those who lean Democratic. Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt was at 13 percent, retired Gen. Wesley Clark was at 12 percent and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry was at 10 percent. Joe Lieberman, the Connecticut senator who held the lead in this poll last month at 22 percent, had fallen to 9 percent. Others were also in single digits.

<snip>

The poll of 1,000 adults was taken from Oct. 9-13 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, slightly larger for subgroups like registered voters and Democrats.

12. I can't believe you don't know which ones they are,
since after every single one you make a post saying national polls don't mean anything; what really matters is what happens in NH and Iowa. Which of course, makes me wonder why you bothered to post this, if national polls don't mean anything.

I suppose the key is, national polls showing other candidates in the lead are meaningless; national polls showing Dean in the lead are simply proof that Dean is here on loan from God to make our lives trouble free, to right wrongs, to slap on his lab coat, sling a stethescope around his neck, grab his medical bag, and go out and heal the world, in between constant fundraisers launched via his website, of course. :)

13. I don't follow national polls
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 09:16 PM by pruner
as I stated in my first reply in this thread, I think national polls are meaningless at this stage, and since this is a national poll, I don't think it's important.

I only posted this cause I hadn't seen it posted yet.

sorry if it bothers you to see a national poll in which Clark isn't leading.

I suggest you get used to it.

10. Right...
I am not getting into this flame war, but I would like to add one thing. If Clark gets all of the Reagan voters or even "Reagan Democrats" I will be very happy.

16. Surely we can compromise
Howabout a Dean-Clark ticket?
ean-lark or lark-ean in 2004. It just might take 8 years of Dean and 8 years of Clark (Order tbd) to fix W's messes.

14. For some reason, I just can't get this song out of my head.
To the tune of a very popular Halloween song.
(Thanks Subway Serenade)

BUSH WAS LEAVING FOR VACATION EARLY ONE NIGHT,
WHEN HIS EYES BEHELD A FRIGHTENING SIGHT.
MILLIONS OF PEOPLE DANCIN' IN THE STREET,
WHAT WERE THEY DOING THERE? WHAT WAS THAT BEAT?

(THEY DID THE MASH.)
THE VERMONTSTER MASH
(VERMONTSTER MASH)
IT'S A NATIONAL SMASH.
(VERMONTSTER MASH)
IT'S RAISING CARLOADS OF CASH.
(THEY DID THE MASH.)
THE VERMONTSTER MASH.

SO HE CALLED ROVE AND RUMMY TO THE OVAL ROOM,
WITH CONDI AND COLIN AND HE LOWERED THE BOOM.
ASHCROFT SAW US DANCIN' AND HE HAD TO ASSUME.
"THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO COULD SPELL OUR DOOM."

(WE DID THE MASH.)
THE VERMONTSTER MASH
(VERMONTSTER MASH)
IT'S RAISING OODLES OF CASH.
(WE DID THE MASH)
IT'S NO PAN FULL OF FLASH.
(VERMONTSTER MASH)
IT'S THE VERMONTSTER MASH.

THE DEANIACS WERE HAVING FUN.
(WAA-OOO)
BUT WE KNEW WE HAD ONLY BEGUN.
(WAA-OOO)
IT'S TAKEN TOO MANY YEARS TO KICK OUT,
(WAA-OOO)
GEORGE BUSH AND HIS SONS.

TELL YOUR GREAT GRAND KIDS
YOU WERE A PART OF THE SCENE,
WHEN BUSH AND HIS FRIENDS WERE BURSTING A SPLEEN.
AS THE BACK DOOR OPENED TO THE BLACK LIMOSINE,
AND OUT STEPPED PRESIDENT HOWARD DEAN.

(YOU DID THE MASH.)
THE VERMONTSTER MASH
(VERMONTSTER MASH)
IT WAS A NATIONWIDE SMASH.
(WE DID THE MASH)
AT THE INNAUGURAL BASH.
(WE'LL DO THE MASH.)
THE VERMONTSTER MASH

WAA-OOOO!
OUT THE WAA-ZOOO...

fade...

Click my name, have some fun
