You don't think that Rove is planning a sympathy assassination attempt

on Bush when he visits Manila? The thought just occured to me when I read this. Nothing would rally Americans around their President more than an attempted assassination. Just keep this in mind as events unfold in Manila. Otherwise, I see no reason for this visit at all at a time like this.

This visit will have no overnight. It lasts exactly eight hours, because the Secret Service will not permit Mr. Bush to stay past dinner in a country whose army officers are sometimes of dubious loyalty and where terrorist groups still strike with audacity.

There has been some disagreement within the regime on the question of another Unity Operation between now and the primaries.

It would certainly expedite election cancellation, and provide a smooth transition into the next phase of domestic measures, say some, while others disagree, believing that panic would impede control, negatively impact the non-defense commerce sectors, and not cast the regime in a flattering lighht as regards Homeland Security.

An unsuccessful targeted killing in a nation to which military personnel and other operatives have already been deployed, could be the compromise measure that heals the rift in the PNAC chamber.
