The strongest argument against Bush's Iraq War....

Today Congress is debating whether to spend another $87 billion on Iraq. Bush's Folly is to pretend the war is over and that our American GIs are dying in isolated terrorist incidents. So he is requesting that we spend American blood and treasure to "rebuild" the infrastructure of Iraq, such as the schools and the hospitals. We are even spending money to pay for a "new" Iraqi Army. This is money we cannot afford and this money better spent on our own people.

That is the strongest argument against this ill-advised adventure. Democrats can debate about WMDs, imminent dangers, etc but no argument is as strong as taking taxpayer money out of Americans pockets to send down a rathole in Iraq. When we need money for our own infrastructure and to train our unemployed in this nation, it is simply wrong to spend this money in Iraq, under the illusion that we are going to create a new democracy in that country.

Have we learned nothing in the past? How long before the "new" Iraqi military turns against us? How long will the people support the military dictatorship that we plan on putting in place? How long will we be able to buy them off? This Administration is out of touch with reality. And Americans should not have to pay for their misguided ideas and arrogant foreign policies.

It is the Republicans that are abandoning the middle class of this country by spending money that we do not have on a cause that we do not need and will not work. It is a folly. It is a lie. Iraq did not attack us on 9/11. George Bush went into that country on some type of personal ego mission, not out of national security reasons. And now, we are supposed to support him as if he were JFK? Not.

First US foreign aid is about 10 billion dollars a year about .3% of GDP(10.4 Trillion dollars)
We give the UN maybe 4 billon dollars a year if we feel like it.

How much is Iraq costing us because we didn't get any international help?

and what utopian ideals are you talking about that the United States already spends billions on? please name some specific utopian programs.

Keeping in mind that utopia means: "An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects."

We can not afford Emperialism. Americans will soon tire of building schools for muslems while watching ours fall apart. Americans are tired of seeing our National treasures being squandered. This is our major advantage over Republicans. They are tied to money. Every single thing they propase has to do with money. They worship it literally. When they start to feel they aren't getting their fair (what a laugh) share they will "just say no" This is our stick to hit them over the head with.

It is also a matter of public record that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved the $87B request unanimously.
