REAL Dems played Hail to the Thief on Jan 6 2001
READ about REAL DEMOCRATS. Not the spineless DEms like
Daschle , Gepthurt, LIEberman, Kerry, ALL the pro-Bushwar voters

These are REAL DEMOCRATS That stood up to this illegal pResident.

Not the spineless DEMs who gushed over the UNelected oil stooge.
Not the spineless DEMs who gave Bush unlimited power to wage
an endless war of occupation

Saturday, 6 January 2001

Today was the day that Congress accepts or rejects the state electors. Any objections must come from at least one Representative and at least one Senator. As it turns out, a lot of Representatives did have objections to make, however none of them could find even a single Senator to co-sign the objections, so they didn't go through. Gee, could this have anything to do with yesterday's news about the Senate committee sharing? A little quid pro quo. Not that I'm complaining too hard - the objections were just a gesture and wouldn't have gone anywhere, while the committee sharing is very real and will severely limit Bush's power. But it's worth remembering those Representatives who stood up to protest.

Here's a good quote from a statement issued by Democrats.com:

We are extremely proud of the fourteen Members of Congress who rose in protest today: Corrine Brown, Eva Clayton, Elijah Cummings, Peter Deutsch, Bob Filner, Jesse Jackson Jr., Eddie Bernice Johnson, Barbara Lee, Sheila Jackson Lee, Carrie Meek, Cynthia McKinney, Patsy Mink, Maxine Waters, and above all Alcee Hastings. As a result of their efforts, history will show that members of the Democratic Party were not willing to accept the ultimate crime against democracy - the theft of the Presidency.

1. I'm locking this thread.
It is inflammatory, and violates the rules for starting threads in the General Discussion forum.

If you wish to discuss these issues, please keep the following in mind...

1. Avoid using cute names (Gepthurt, LIEberman) for prominent progressives.

2. Avoid using loaded words like "spineless" and avoid deliberately dividing our members with terms like "real Democrats". We are all Democrats here.
