Caterpillar Sues to Block Movie Release

PEORIA, Ill. - Caterpillar Inc. has sued to block next week's U.S. release of Disney's "George of the Jungle 2," alleging that the direct-to-DVD movie damages the heavy equipment maker's reputation.

The Peoria-based company's trademark infringement lawsuit contends the movie ties Caterpillar to an "evil attacking army" of industrialists seeking to destroy the jungle, a central theme of the Disney sequel.

Caterpillar contends its name and its corporate logo are featured prominently in a final battle that pits George and his computer-animated animal friends against an army of Caterpillar Wheel Loaders a narrator calls "bulldozing bullies."

The lawsuit asks a judge to issue a temporary restraining order to block Tuesday's scheduled release of the movie and seeks an order that Disney destroy all offending material.

although Catapillar was not mentioned as the culprit...there were bulldoziers that my people disabled to protect a pristine area....THEY STOLE MY STORY!!!

1. Disney will settle before the temporary injunction motion is decided.

2. The settlement will include digital alteration of at least future editions of the movie so that the name and logo are not visible.

Freakin' fascists. Whatever the hell happened to a little apparently pointless something called FREEDOM OF SPEECH?!

Not that I'd normally support Disney of all corporations, but the Caterpiller lawsuit is beyond ridiculous. They're more mental than I am if they think that "bulldozing bullies" is going to hurt them in any way, shape, or form! :eyes: :crazy: :silly:

If this is what America is now about, I'd rather live in Nazi Germany circa 1940. Being gay, I'd get a cool logo to wear all the time and eventually go into an E-Z-Bake Oven (tm). x(

movie studios pay plenty of money to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen. It's called E & O insurance (for errors and omissions).

Caterpillar must have wanted the product placement without having any idea how it was gonna be used. I'd say a 99% chance that it's their own damn fault.
