Who was Frist's opponent during the Senate leadership race?
People complain that Chafee voted for Frist, but who was the other guy he could have voted for?

4. Yes. It was Nickles.
He stepped aside for Frist. He probably knew at the time that he would retire.

5. Or vice versa.
He was stiff-armed out of the way by the WH, and a la JC Watts, went back to the prairie on the way to the cash-in. When your path up is blocked, who needs it anymore with all that green beckoning, going to waste on your lessers?

7. yes he was
i think he stood by trent lott but when it was clear lott was out he tried to get in there, but between nickles and frist he probably had no chance.
