Iraq contracts (as of mid September)
http://www.export.gov/iraq/contracts/

Might be worth a little time to scroll through to see who (as of a month ago) was raking in some profits off of the war : War Profiteering. Add any comments about organizations/companies you see listed. This is probably a good indication of where some of the 87 Billion next installment will go.

Probably worth periodically checking the site for updates.

1. Yes well the companies from which the Defense Policy Institute members
sprung are doing quite well after this war that they vetted all the policy and propaganda for, not to mention several other donors listed on Open Secrets.

It's probably a bit harder to follow the money from the Kuwait affiliated contract companies but I'll bet with a little google grease it leads back to some high level RNC donors as wel.
Gotta wonder about that pest control contract ;-)

3. Olive security
on that list is supposed to take me into Nasariyah in a couple of weeks. Many project costs are escalated due to security requirements. I will be traveling as a lone contractor, but the week long security of 4 armed guards with 2 armored vehicles, quadruples the cost of the project. As taxpayers, we are getting ripped off.

6. Wow.
Btw, I hope that you return to us safely.

But - wow.

Sort of makes one wish someone would do an analysis on those services now contracted out that used to be done internally by different parts of the Pentagon - and compare the costs. Is private contract always cheaper and more efficient? Inquiring minds want to know.

Probably, but I work for one of the Bechtel type companies trying to get into the Iraq business market. This is one of those gigs where the company gets into Iraq on a tiny procurement, which opens the door to much larger contracts without having to go through the tedious bidding process.

8. Scroll down to "Capital Construction": Bechtel
they are the primary folks giving out subcontractor work. Interesting.
