All of them have their drawbacks, even Carol mosley Braun and Al Sharpton. While I have never voted for anything but a Democrat in my life, I can't get too enthusiastic about any of the candidates other than Kucinich. I know, how about "Unnamed Democrat, as opposed to Bush*"?

My solid second choice is definitely Edwards. He and DK are firmly entrenched and it would take a lot to get me to change that order. One of them would have to support the eating of children or something to make me switch.

I did like Bob "The Deranged Moderate" Graham quite a bit. Still do.

Come to think of it I like all our candidates.

For the record I get the feeling we will get a Kerry-Edwards ticket or vice versa.

Show me your poll results, because of all the K supporters I've spoken to, and based on what I heard from a Kucinich meetup, and based on what I've seen on this board, I know of a small minority who won't go green if K loses.

Many Greens are coming to the dems for the specific purpose of supporting DK. Some are waiting for the general election; most are reregistering as dems to support him in the primary. It shouldn't be a surprise that if someone else is nominated, some will go back to the party they feel best represents them. What should be noted is that Dennis is pulling many, many disenfranchised ex-dems, 3rd party members, and just plain non-voters back into the party. If you believe it's more important to move toward the middle to capture those voters, that probably isn't important. If you believe that the dems have left too many progressives behind, and that they ought to be including them, Dennis is offering a chance to do just that.

The numbers skew the same as the big DU poll - Kerry replacing DK for third place. And they begin to look more like the national polls.

I think it's because we DK supporters are not factoring in "electability" in our top decision, but we are for our second choices. At least that goes for me and my second choice - Dean. It also indicates a strong ABB sentiment that should put to rest any worries about us Kucinich supporters.

Its not saying that i would not myself apply to Mr. Clark's administration to support him and his office in every way once he wins... just my vote for him is really a vote against BFEE, just like i hated clinton but thought him better than dole or whoever he ran against in 92... i forgot who it was... oh well.

I'm not ABB. I'm 100% Bush Out but not to the point of accepting anything or anyone just because it will be better than Bush.

My expectations aren't as low as the DLC's and I won't allow the DLC to drag them down that much.

I only have one choice and that is DK. If he doesn't win the nomination I will vote the Dem (please don't let it be Dean, Lieberman, or Clark!) and then leave to help establish a stronger Green Party in my state.

This is an extremely important point apparently lost on much of the ABB crowd. If your state is not really in play at the national level, then you can vote conscience knowing it won't make a wit of difference. For example, I never had to plug my nose and vote for William Jefferson Clinton since his victory in Minnesota was assured. Because of our electoral system, strategic voting such as greendog suggests is entirely viable and defensible. Yet many posters on DU don't seem to really get it. What gives?

because he truly is running a grassroots campaign which is surprising the pundits and the Dem insiders as they watch how successful it has been in numbers (database building) and funding. So he looks like a winner.

It is early yet. We need to see how the Iowa Caucus turns out and the New Hampshire vote and South Carolina. I think Kucinich will stay in at least through one or two or all of these first votes. By that time, it should be pretty clear who the eventual leader is likely to be.

I expect Clark to fade as the negatives continue to filter in and he is no longer "the new kid on the block." Or for some reason, Dean could make a bad stumble from which he can't recover. As I say, it is early yet.

If/when Kucinich drops out he could well endorse another candidate. Wouldn't most DK supporters take that advice?

who has the best chance to defeat he-whose-name-must-not-be-spoken. I would certainly take his advice, but if he endorsed a weak candidate, I'd choose Kerry, probably. There really isn'tt a candidate I can't endorse, but it will require a stronger stomach to support Dean.
