In Iraq, the U.S.-appointed Governing Council hailed the resolution as a step toward bringing stability to the war-battered country and ending violence against the American-led occupation.


So, am I whacked out? Has the UN surrendered to the US despite being against it in the past? They could have been more stern when saying they're doing this for the Iraqis while doing something to PUNISH the US for its wrongful act.

I'm ashamed of the UN right now. They're just proving to Bush that he can do whatever he wants and get away with it.

The UN is irrelevant.

Tell him anything in a resolution. But, for money and troops he* can go shit in his* hat. Especially for troops, they won't be forthcoming.

4. Extortion by the US....

...What was Syria gonna say "NO, please go ahead and bomb us?" The rest of the world at this point seems to be terrified that the former village Idiot of Austin will just bomb them. Hell even France is a little nervous I would imagine, you do know accidents happen, and with chimpy McCokespoon at the helm, accidents are a staple.

You are not Whacked the UN sold-out, but they did so out of fear, not support or attrition. What a sad state this world is in.

I had only read a small part of the article before posting. I wanted to see how other people responded. I'm not in the best mood to think right now (in a way, I am whacked...).

Still, it's good to know it's not as bad as I'd thought...

11. Rich Bush Beggar Appeals to UN for License to Bribe

I guess this is a story about the relevancy of the UN.

Bush the Cowboy-Warlord was reduced to Bush the Beggar. He asked and received from the UN the license to bribe other countries for help in Iraq. For the bribing he will use the rest of out tax appropriation he hasn't spent yet plus a chunk of the 87 1/2 billion he is demanding.

Bush has failed overwhelmingly to get other countries to "help" in Iraq on his terms. Think about it-almost every country has said we can't help other than in token ways unless the UN says it is ok. Bush had to beg the UN for a license to bribe and now other countries will tell him how much it will cost us to save his butt.

Now we get to see which countries are willing (in Tony Blair's words) to pay the blood price for US dollars or other aid.

Bush has to hurry because it will be embarrassing if the countries request that he convert the dollars to euros first.

It's scheduled for late this month, I believe.

We're planning on browbeating our "allies" into ponying up the big bucks for rebuilding Iraq. We'll get a few token donations - maybe a few hundred million - but buhdeebuhdeebuhdeebuhdee that'll be all, folks!

10. The UN is the US, it is just a holdover from a time when

the US felt that for whatever reason, they wanted some sort of body to put an international approval seal on whatever they wanted to do.

They don't really need it now, the only people who see it as an entity separate from the US is a segment of the US population, and since the adoption of the bush doctrine, it is more like a vestigial tail than anything else.
