1. The shape of the graph...
actually looks like it's giving the finger.

All I know is I've got a Maple Leaf patch on my backpack for my next international travelling adventure.

3. I've thought.....
of doing something similar for an upcoming trip.
I spoke to a young woman who was recently a student in France. She said that most people there distinguished between American citizens and the actions of our government. It was reassuring.:kick:

5. Don't fear Europeans...
We just came back from nine days in France, mostly in Paris.

Although we were both all set to say "J'suis Canadien!", at
no time were we ever treated badly for being Americans,
and, when asked, we made no secret of our national origin (as
if our speech didn't give us away anyway!)

Unlike Americans, Europeans can distinguish between people
and their government. It's actually important that, when you
go abroad, you carry the message that we relly didn't elect
him and we fully understand why he's not respected out in the
world and we're doing our best to fix this as soon as possible.

BTW, we did see a fair amount of anti-bush graffiti.

2. Hey ! Be careful about the exact question !
This poll is about the feeling of American citizens.
The question was "Do you think people living in other countries around the world generally have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the United States today?"
It does not reflect the actual feeling of people in foreign countries.
There can be a difference between what you guess other people think about you and what they actually think. Just ask this to a paranoïd ;-)

4. Wouldn't the answers be worse ?

But Hieronymus is right. We distinguish between Bush'administration and the American people (yet).

We're waiting for 2005 with impatience as you. But, if Bush is "re"-elected, then the gap between you and the European people will really be digged.
