2. This comment sounds like it came from yesterday's press...
but it actually came from David Halberstam on Vietnam: "Because we had gotten in so much deeper, we wanted to see commensurate results to justify the commitment. ...The American Administration would have to justify the decision it had made by manipulating the facts, by press agentry, by trying to manage the news and events, and finally, when that failed, by constant assaults on reporters in Vietnam who continued to report pessimistically." The Best and the Brightest, p. 226.

Nothing changes very much, does it?

3. A special irony that BUSH (not Dems) opens the attack on the media!!!
The horrors we're witnessing would not be possible without 99% cooperation from the media. Yet, the Democrats never dare to raise the issue of the degeneration of our media - examples of which can be seen every day - indeed, several times every hour.

No, in this Bizarro world, we see that it's the REPUBLICAN side -- supported by the media 99% of the time, even in covering up criminal outrages -- that is first & loudest to pout unhappily about "media bias." (And of course, the media dutifully cover their pouting, featuring it prominently, with a straight face.)

99% control is not enough for this people. They demand 100% obedience. If it falls below 99%, they become "outraged," and go on the warpath about it.
