2. Amend that to
an unscripted press conference and a healthy dose of "truth serum" in advance.

He'd weasel and lie his way out of even the most unscripted press conference. He needs some incentive to tell the truth. Clean conscience doesn't seem to matter.

6. I don't know.

He tends to blurt and warble some of the most non sequitur crap, when he hasn't been coached. They learned their lessons with their previous idiot figurehead, though -- they eventually stopped letting King Ronnie anywhere near a microphone if they hadn't pounded the talking points into his head, after the "bombing in five minutes" blurt about Russia.

I think (even without truth serum) if it went on long enough, even if he didn't tell the truth he'd go off on somebody in a really embarrassing way. That's probably more the reason you don't see unscripted press conferences from President Shovelhead -- he has anger management problems, especially when the press corps goes on a lark and starts actually asking questions nobody told him how to answer.

9. ...about the anger management part........
I forgot about that.

That would be interesting to watch. A hostile news media asking probing questions, challenging his contradictions, questioning his motivations. He would go ballistic in about 5 minutes (tops)! It wouldn't hurt for America to see the mean-spirited, hot-headed, spoiled brat underlying the "aw shucks" persona.

Forget the truth serum.....turn him loose with the reporters in full feeding frenzy!

I'll get the popcorn....and drinks afterwards are on me.

3. I wonder if Bush will ever again...
...be able to appear before an audience that is not, to a person, handpicked. As on the deck of an aircraft carrier, for instance. No need to worry about demonstrators or hecklers 30 miles out to sea!
No, everything he does is scripted, in part, and only in part, because his staff knows they can't be sure he won't pull a major f***up at ANY other type of event...sigh....what a country.

5. it's not just the fuck-up factor with Commander Codpiece...

it's the fact that he's THE MOST HATED MAN ON EARTH.

he can't go ANYWHERE without demonstrations against him.

and he will NEVER appear without 100% crowd control. (and will NEVER give an unscripted press conference either)

7. Alternate Idea: Put him on The Daily Show
This has been my fantasy for quite a while. After all, other political figures have done it.

Start slowly with Frank DeCaro--his usual feature is "Out at the Movies". A collection of Bush's greatest film clips, with Frank's bitchy comments, would set things up nicely.

Then, B* could walk out to the adulation of the crowd. Jon Stewart would be low-key & gentlemanly. Of course, if any phrases like "when I was elected" were uttered, Jon would correct the error--but, politely!

Steve Carrell & Stephen Colbert are fine individually, but they do a great double-team. I'd like them to do the next interview--we could see just how quickly the little eejit's mind works.

If he hasn't run away, screaming, when they're through with him--turn him over to Lewis Black.

I bet the ratings would be high.

8. I am looking forward
To the repug convention in NYC. They wouldn't even let Cheney go near ground zero this year. New Yorkers are going to rip these boys a new one. I am seeing visions of Chicago 1968....

The repugs need to move the convention to Sea Island Georgia, one bridge, easily secured, very few people to control, conservative state.... (just like the upcomming G8 meeting). Or better yet, perhaps move it to the Cayman Islands, you could probably rent a private island there, and of course, they would be close to all their off-shore accounts...

15. I'm not seeing Chicago '68
That wouldn't be good. However, he certainly won't be warmly welcomed and it very well may backfire on them. Kind of like the carrier pic.

13. If we had a real press, they would be clamoring for and demanding
one in unison. Where are they?

14. The press lambasted Clinton for not having press conferences
during the Monica debacle. Meanwhile, overall, Clinton held a shitload of press conferences, and REAL one's at that. I could probably count the number of REAL press conferences the Chimp has held on one hand...It's unprecedented how few he's had this far into his term and the press says nary a word. W/ all the crucial things happening these days it's reprehensible.
