BBV: Were FTP files used in GA machines?
I have been a little confused about this issue. From the interviews in Bev's book, it seemed that officials were claiming that none of the files from the FTP site were used in the Georgia machines. Is this true? What is their proof? I'll have to go back to reread the relevant sections but I had one question.

How difficult would it be to do a file comparison between the FTP files and the files on the GA machines? This would not require a line by line reading of the code. I also know that there are programs (even freeware) that can be used to find duplicate files. Just dump everything together and see what shakes out. Has anything like this ever been done by the groups that do the testing? Just wondering.

1. download chapter 9!
Rob and I discussed how patches were downloaded. For some reason, the techs were told to use their own laptops to download files from the Diebold FTP Web site. According to Rob, he was instructed by Diebold not to discuss anything with Georgia’s voting machine examiner (Dr. Brit Williams) or other state officials.
This was awkward, because Dr. Williams was working alongside Rob at times, and when Dr. Williams asked questions, Rob made the mistake of answering. This infuriated Diebold managers.

2. Here's a quote...

From Kara Sinkule of the GA SoS's office:

"We were aware of the Diebold FTP site, but Georgia never used it (our model didn't require us to).

(Edited to fix typo)
