It seems like they always write scathing things about Kerry, Dean, and Clark. However, they give Liberman an "A" for every single thing.

What do you think? I think they are.

1. Why even ask this question
The New Republican is a Looneyman organ.

Henry Wallace turns in his grave...

3. No it isn't
he doesn't even work for them.

The new republic is a left-center( or center-left) magazine who's contrinutors seem to have a realist foriegn policy.

They've given fair and equal critism to all of the candidates as I can see it. They've bashed and complimented them all.

6. They are neocon, not center left for god sakes
. They supported Reagan in the 80s and gave good reviews to the bell curve.

9. Once upon a time
TNR was center-left, but now they seem to be all over the map. I subscribe to TNR because they do publish some good stuff and if you aren't a subscriber you can't get articles from their web site. But they publish stuff that's extreme right wing as much as they do centrist and leftist opinion.

4. Maybe not pro-Liebermann
But definetly anti-Dean. This is fair enough, given the magazine's political leanings, but there should be no illusions about objectivity. In the last few months they are really starting to churn out the cheap shots when it comes to Dean.

To a lesser extent, they are also anti-Kerry. Apparently Peretz doesn't like him.... TNR appears to support both Edwards and Liebermann.

8. TNR
When I was growing up, my parents subscribed to TNR. At some point, Martin Peretz took over and immediately started publishing articles by grotesque hacks like Charles Krauthammer and Fred Barnes. My parents cancelled the subscription.

Peretz single-handedly transformed this venerable liberal institution into a neo-con mouthpiece for the Likud Party and other reactionary causes.

7. To the extent they aren't pro-bush, they support Edwards.
Or at least did in August.
