Governor Wants Iowans To Sign Petition
http://www.theiowachannel.com/politics/2558279/detail.html

Gov. Tom Vilsack has asked Iowans to sign a petition urging Congress and the Food and Drug Administration to allow Americans to purchase imported prescription drugs from Canada.

Vilsack said the ever-increasing cost of prescription drugs places an unfair burden on consumers, especially when so many Americans are unemployed and without health care coverage.

Sign the petition here: http://www.affordabledrugs.il.gov/

2. I've signed, and....
... I'm proud to point out that this petition was initiated by Illinois' own Democratic governor, Rod Blagoevic.

no power to lower prescription drugs. Your points and spelling fit much better in Freeperville. At least try not to be obvious.

11. Because He Can't
Not even the Federal government has a regulatory mechanism for price controls on prescription drugs, so expecting the governor of Iowa to lower the costs is unreasonable. This is the crux of the issue, and the importation of drugs from countries that do have price controls through their own national health care program is a workaround solution. Once Federal price controls becomes a campaign issue PhRMA, the pharmacutical industry's umbrella lobby, will piss their pants and find a way to dump hundreds of millions of dollars into the lap of any candidate or PAC that opposed price controls. With the importation measure, they'll just resort to dirty tricks.
