Funk, Shelton (Clark detractors) and the crab fable
Edited on Sat Oct-18-03 12:28 PM by gulliver
This is a story I first heard on the TV show Northern Exposure. I think it sheds some light on the Funks and Sheltons of the world.

It seems a fisherman was fishing for crabs, and he had the crabs beside him in a bucket. A passerby noticed that there was no lid on the bucket and asked why. The fisherman responded.

He said that he didn't need a lid. Any time one crab started to escape the bucket, the other crabs would pull him back in...

2. It would seem in this case
the other crabs pushed the prince crab out.

3. I think maybe you have...
... a hole in your bucket. Most of your arguments don't hold water.

OK, but you did find a good "twist" on the fable to support your position, so I have to give you credit for that.

8. Your bigotry against Clark is absolutely appaling....
Though I respect your right to free speech,
trashing a Democratic candidate every damn
chance you get is disgusting.

4. I Thought This Was About Me! (Egotist)
I was going to say that I actually like Clark.

But now this crab story is going to freak me out for the next couple of days.

5. Is it the big crabs
or the little crabs that freak you out?

6. Yeah. They had to stop Dean somehow.
The original bucketful failed, so they had to throw Clark in there to try to give them some help. I wonder at what point they'll throw Hillary in the pail.

7. Man, the "bucket" keeps changing.
Good one.

One thing I will note is that Clark has yet to attack Dean or any of the other candidates (to my knowledge). When he first got in the race, he was repeatedly asked leading questions like "Are you getting in because you think the current crop of candidates aren't good enough?" Clark repeatedly responded that he liked the other candidates and was getting into the race because he wanted to serve his country.

I haven't seen or heard anything from him since that deviates from "call to service" theme. In fact, he expanded upon it.

BTW, I also like Dean a lot and would vote for him if he were the nominee. But, I just think Clark is better.

9. Exactly....
That has always been the problem with the Democrats. That is why the republicans do so well instead of fighting each other they watch us fight ourselves. It is so sad really. You'd think we'd learn a little something.
