The only way to make the Right realize that their view of patriotism is ridiculous and un-American is for us to mock it and emulate it when our people are in power. So here is what I propose. No matter who becomes president, Clark, Kerry, Dean, Kucinich, I don't care, we immediately begin attacking the patriotism and Americanism of anybody who criticizes the new president. Criticism from the Left will be kind of conveniently ignored. Anyway, we should attach the new president to nationalistic symbols and slogans like flags and anthems, so as to suggest that support for the current president's policies are tanamount to support for the country. We should make bumper stickers that say: "GOD BLESS PRESIDENT KUCINICH and our troops" and hold up signs at demonstrations that say "THANK GOD JOHN KERRY IS PRESIDENT". We should write letters to the editor in newspapers attacking the patriotism of anyone who attacks the president's policies: "If the writer hates President Clark so much, and hates America so much why doesn't he just go back to his cave in Afghanistan?" At a certain point the Right will start to make the arguments we have been making about patriotism and the right to dissent, at which point we should say, "Oh. Had enough?"
