Nov'04 predictions...?
I'm sure these questions have been brought up before but...let's do it again shall we...

What do you see happening leading up to and during the election in Nov'04...

Slamming from the right and left...?...although slamming the Right is so easy because of ChimpCo...

Do you see a clusterfuck happening in Florida again or any other state for that matter...I can't see Florida because I don't think the repubs are that dumb to do the same thing twice...

Do you predict a landslide victory over Chimpco...?...or...hypothetically speaking...elections postponed because of a state of war...causing this country to go further into chaos...?

Just curious...what is your take on the events that we will witness in the coming months...?

1. Could go any way
at this moment. I think as long as Bush thinks the media will hypnotize the people, he won't tamper too much with voting (only in regions where there's a tight race for Senate or House seats). However, if it becomes obvious that there is a groundswell of opposition, I wouldn't put it past this crowd to use every trick in the book to stay in power.

I'm banking on the ignorance and arrogance of this administration to keep them from realizing that Americans are hurting and are blaming Bush until it is too late.

2. I think a lot of people are underestimating John Edwards
Have you seen his numbers in South Carolina? They are pretty good.

5. we need to carry the south
there are a lot of people that are in the south that need representation. Let us not forget that Clinton was a southerner.

3. There are two Zeemikes here
One is hopeful and feels that Dean will win against Bush because of a massive voter turn out and it will usher in a new politics that brings sanity back to government.
The other one is a pessimistic one that sees Bush beating Clark in a “Close election” that will doom us to a oligarchy that will not be wrenched away with democracy.
It is a struggle in my mind and I hope the good guy wins.

4. War within a few weeks of the sElection
Whistleass will either invade Syria or Iran, I think that it will be Syria due to the pipeline between Syria and Iraq and Syria is right next to Israel - easy access to the Mediterrean Sea means cheaper oil shippng costs

Follow the oil slick

As far as the actual election goes - too early to place bets on a probable outcome - but I will say this much - it's going to be another close one

6. I think Dennis and Russ will make George and Dick look terrible
I predict that Kucinich/Feingold will win 53% of the popular vote and 359 electorasl votes.

Democrats will gain one seat in the Senate and seven in the House - not enough to gain control in either chamber, but the GOP can't claim a mandate either.

Dennis might appoint Specter, Snowe, or McCain to his Administration, and the Governor (Rendell, D-PA; Baldacci, D-Maine; or Napolitano, D-Arizona) would appoint their successor. Or, Jeffords could 'officially' switch to the Democrats and make it 50-50, with Feingold bereaking the tie.

7. Well...some friends and I were talking...
and we were wondering what would happen if it was as close as it was last time...what kind of dirty tricks would they pull out of their asses to hi-jack it again...

Could he pull a stunt like postponing an election during a time of war...?
I don't think the American people will stand for that...

8. Yes
and yes. The rhetoric is already in place.

This week I've heard two reports about what the regime is doing with its money. They are building a state of the art, web-based network to feed the lies to the faith-based base. Never under estimate the fervor of this anti-American revolution. They don't believe in American democracy, and they don't play by the rules.

A small bet: if bushco get elected in 2004, we will see them establish a quasi-state religion.

9. 50-50 chance
right now, we could get the advantage if economy and Iraq continue to suck for another year, but they could gain advantage if the economy picks up substantially especially on the job market and I just read that they are looking at making big troop cuts in Iraq next year. It is really too early to say. If the election were held right now--it would probably be as closely divided as it was in 2000.

10. The Democratic candidate wins the vote, Bu$h* wins the vote count
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 09:47 AM by Vitruvius
thanks to the Rethug black box voting machines. And is re-selected.

UNLESS

a.) the Democrats grow a backbone and NAIL Bu$h on his many scandals and repeated foul-ups so a Bu$h* "victory" isn't even semi-plausible. Bu$h must be painted as the lying, corrupt, vicious, semi-retarded tool of big oil and big business that he is. By this time next year, Bu$h, Cheney, Rummy, AND the puppet-masters behind them must be facing numerous special prosecutors, congressional inquiries, and probable indictment for crimes up to and including LIHOP/MIHOP...

-- and --

b.) the Democratic PARTY takes up the black box voting issue and force a bill outlawing them thru Congress AND ALSO implement a ferocious voting security operation. Which must also target the Rethug's systematic computer disenfranchisment of minorities (e.g. the Florida 'felon list' which wrongly disqualified 95,000 non-felons).

FDR, HST, JFK, even LBJ were big on (a) hitting the Rethugs hard and (b) thwarting Rethug cheating; making sure Democratic votes were counted and Rethug votes weren't stuffed. And that's how they WON -- despite the overwhelmingly Rethug press of their day, which was not unlike the overwhelmingly Rethug media of our day.

(UPON EDIT): Now, go re-read the excellent article by "Shallow Throat" at http://www.democraticunderground.com/articles/03/10/04_defeated.html

12. 2 month media blitz of positive economy/market/job predictions
In the 2 months leading up to the election, I'm guessing that their strategy will include cutting the legs out from under any area the Democratic candidate might go after Bush.

This will work, because they are very willing and able to lie, and with the media's full cooperation, they will. By election time, most Americans will have been suckered into believing that the "good times" are back and everything is gonna be great if we just stick with Chimpolini. The Bush people will have no problems when the predictions don't come true. They'll just ignore it or make excuses. Works pretty well.

...and they'll probably have a war going just to eliminate any criticism of the Chimperor's leadership, etc...........

13. All liberals unite...
All liberals, moderates, educated, minorities, soldiers, and all non-fundamentalist non-christians unite in a moment of utopian solidarity. They all realize that the greatest evil the world has ever seen will destroy world with his fists of fascism if they don't all vote for the true messiah .... the Dean / Edwards ticket.

By a massive landslide, Dean takes the win 78% to 22%. Bush and his cabinet are labelled traitors to America when Dean exposes the lies and documents that surface when the crime family is forced out of power. They are held in GITMO for an indefinite amount of time, but America will not be fooled by any more republican lies- they are terminated as a party.

The green party rises to fill the void republicans left and America is lead into an unprecedented era of peace and prosperity. Ending zionist support leads to middle eastern peace within 6 months. The war on terrorism quickly ends as our troops withdraw. And world peace ensues. Our new found prosperity coupled with unrestricted (now that fundamentalists are out of power) scientific research leads us cure all diseases, to end world hunger, and to eliminate poverty everywhere.

The world lives happily ever after... all because republicans lost power

16. I have no real hope for 2004
Not while Karl Rove can fog a mirror. The apparatus of power is firmly in Republican hands. They are well organized, rolling in campaign cash, and have iron-clad unity. Troops will be withdraw and the economy will improve. With the media whoring for them and Bush's never-ending luck, I don't see a Democrat in the White House until at least 2012. I believe that power is a cylical thing that has to burn itself out. Enough damage will have to be done in order for the sheep to wake up.

Sorry to be such a downer, but I don't want to have false hopes. The drop into reality is too steep.
