2. great!
Sad though that it's taking comics to cut
through the infomercials.

9. odd world we live in
when what should be headline news is found in the comics section.

A fake cowboy is commander in grief.
An action figure is the governor of CA.
Newspeople are hairdos spewing pablum for the masses.
Cartoonists are investigative journalists.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Tripper11.
Garry Trudeau, watch your back and keep them coming!

7. They do. And get really furious about it. In every poll taken in
my local "newspaper" when trying to see which cartoons to keep, Trudeau receives a lot of negative votes and Mallard Fillmore (Yuck!) gets the accolades.

However, I do hope Trudeau's got good security around him.
You just know he's on a Plumbers' enemies list somewhere in the bowels of the White House.

Odd. The top 3 panels were deleted from my local paper, but this made the big panel that much BIGGER.

10. It's probably a good thing
that I don't distribute papers to the boxes around town, or deliver the paper to homes. My route would have been much slower today. The comic section would have been on the OUTSIDE, above the fold.

How good is this? Big grins.

11. IT's a sad day in america...
It's a truly sad day in america when the readers of doonsbury are getting more accurate current events information than those who watch fox news. :(

26. re: the top panels...
I'm sure they are always missing in your paper. When papers buy a Sunday strip, they have a choice of whether or not to buy the first two panels. Some drop them to save space (others shrink and rearrange them).

33. Not all that odd.
The first panels of Sunday strips are optional, allowing the papers to shape the strip to fit various formats.

Those panels are rather uncharitably called the "throw-away," and always contain content non-essential to the understanding of the strip.

22. The important thing we miss with this message
is that not only did most americans think Hussein had something to do with 9/11 but that most americans have no idea where or what Iraq, Iran or Saudi Arabia are. To most americans it's all one big mess and they certainly couldn't find them on a map. Here's what americans know and care about. The towelhead cameljockeys did 9/11, thus, we need to go kill a disproportionately large amount of towelheads. They don't care if they're Iraqis, Iranians, Saudis (until the gas prices go up). Hell, we could've nuked Kuwait and the majority of americans would've danceda jig. I shouldn't have to mention that my use of the term "towelhead" is mocking ignorant americans, not people of middle eastern descent.

29. I swear...
All of the news papers in America need to agree on one thing for one day to bitch slap america in the face...

A FRONT PAGE HEADLINE ON EVERY NEWSPAPER IN AMERICA THAT SAYS THREE GIANT BOLD PHRASES...

"IRAQ HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH 9-11
"WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION HAVE NOT BEEN FOUND
"THE WORLD DID NOT SUPPORT US

just so these idiots (half of america) will get a grip with reality.

30. Sheesh
It is really sad that teachers like this still get through, while teachers who try to teach the truth, encourage discussion and critical thinking are often railroaded for being too liberal. I remember teachers in high school or were profoundly ignorant of the subjects they taught. An amazing number of teachers are intellectually lazy, and never attempt to find out the truth, but simply parrot the conventional wisdom.

Please note that this is not an indictment of teachers in general. Many are excellent, all teachers are seriously underpaid. But allowing people like this to continue to mislead students, the citizens of tommorow, is a black mark on the whole US education system.

I hope you complained about the misinformation to the administration.

32. Short on time
Or I'd look for them myself. But if your son's teacher is not convinced by Doonesbury, there have been plenty of news articles recently covering Bush's admission that there was no connection.

Any DUers have some links handy?

34. Please! where is that?
I work in jr. high, and ALL the SS teachers LOATHE the chimp, as well as 95% of the staff (that may be an underestimate)

one reason is that our district lost over 3.5 MILLION in federal money after the junta took over.

the idea that a teacher can "teach" that sort of disinfo is outrageous in the extreme! you should

A) contact the teacher, and deMAND the truth be told

B) if nothing is done, call the principal

C) call the PRESIDENT of the school board

D) write your local newspaper

of course, if you live in a some benighted backwater, none of the above courses of action may do any good, and could, obviously, make your family's lives uncomfortable.

that's REALLY disgusting
