NRA Takes Geico Off 19-Pages "Enemies List"

NRA SITE RELEASES ONE TARGET

JULIA Roberts, Russell Simmons, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Britney Spears, Harvey Weinstein, Jerry Seinfeld and Michelle Pfeiffer are among the leading enemies of the Second Amendment, says the National Rifle Association.

The bombastic organization has compiled a 19-page list of "enemies" of the Constitution, naming celebrities, corporations, religious groups, nonprofits, writers, journalists and sports teams - and listed them on its Web site so members can boycott them.

But while many of the celebs are proud of their anti-gun stance, insurance company Geico was so upset by its inclusion that it wrote to NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre, begging to be taken off the list. ....

On Edit: Am looking for the list, but meantime, there's this:

1. Suprising
Geico is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, whose CEO is Warren Buffet...not to mention the new head of the NRA was a former GOP politician....and Warren Buffet is well know to be a Democrat.

2. Is it possible the NRA really is a single-issue organization?
From Geico's letter:

"For the record, Geico Corporation takes no position whatsoever on gun ownership. It makes no difference to Geico Corporation whether or not a policyholder owns a gun or guns. We just want to be the best auto insurer of the best policyholders in the USA."

surface as economic advisor to the Groperinator?
Schwarzenegger names Warren Buffett as recall campaign adviser
Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - Warren Buffett will serve as senior financial and economic adviser in actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's bid to replace Gray Davis if the governor loses the recall vote, the Republican actor's campaign announced Wednesday.

3. We need to create a lobbying org for the 1st and 4th amendments
that is as strong as the NRA... I'm all for protecting the Bill of Rights, but it seems as though the focus is only on the 2nd amendment these days, while the 1st, 4th and 5th amendments are being largely discarded.
The ACLU is one of our only friends in this regard, but there needs to be a greater outcry for protecting the others, IMHO.

The NRA "Enemies List"
Added by Bill O. Rights on Tuesday, September 30, 2003@02:51 PM

Sorry to say that I haven't seen a list that's made up of 'retailers' but would like to. I've scoured the NRA/ILA site with no luck. Can anyone help guide me to it?

Bill

If you go to the NRA WEBSITE AND CLICK ON "Politics & Legislation", then click on "Research", then go down to pro and anti gun groups, this will give you a list of the "good guys" and the "bad guys". Have fun.

9. Geraldo Is Still on the List of These Great People?
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 11:19 AM by UTUSN
Looks like the different pages all have the same link and you have to go through the "Research" then the other steps. Suitable bowels of the dungeon.

I would have thought Julia CHILD might be a pistol packer, but then, she doesn't need to be, nobody can mess with her.

Mia is on the list, Woody's not. Tweety's not, and he's the biggest physical and conviction-less wimp there is.

13. It is a despicable organization
It is no longer about hunter education gun safety like it once was. It is now a blatant right-wing nutcase organization playing to all the GUN NAZIS out there. FUCK THE NRA they are a terorist organization.
