Dean Calls for Boykins to Resign

DEARBORN, MI-- Yesterday, Governor Howard Dean, M.D., called on General William G. Boykin to step down as Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence after General Boykin made remarks suggesting that the fight against terrorism is a fight between Christianity and Islam.

Governor Dean released the following statement:

"Not only did General Boykin's comments contradict everything America stands for; they could hamstring our ability to rally other nations in the fight against terrorism. For that, he should step down, and President Bush should say so. It was not enough for the State Department's spokesperson to condemn the General's remarks. It's time for the President of the United States to show some leadership and ask for General Boykin's resignation."

I don't remember who, but I'm glad. This is something that ALL the candidates should agree on. Even if Bush doesn't like Muslims, he should realize that this general is saying things that are harmful to our relations with other countries. How will we ever stop terrorism when we have idiots like this who are spewing hatred and ignorance? If anything, this guy is helping al Qaeda.
