60 minutes........Nation building doesn't work?

I was somewhat disheartened after watching the segment on Mostar. Here we are facing the prospect of being in Iraq for years and Bosnia which those on the left hail as a noble European/Clintonesque adventure still has major ethic tensions, disfuctional government and ongoing violence. What does this mean? Adopt long term goals or stay the fuck out of places we don't belong? Or both? Remember there was no violence under the Tito dictatorship. If we can't do better why did we get rid of Saddam?

1. We went after the oil. We are going to steal it from the Iraqis

when everyone stops looking at what Bush is doing over there. I heard we've invarded 37 other countries since WW2 to make the democracies, and none are. Just look at Afghanistan. How anyone anywhere thought Iraq would be different then Afghanistan with Bush in charge, they should be just labeled insane. We are not interested in democracy in other countries (and fast getting that way here). Our government wants puppet governments that will further our common good over the respective countrie's common good. That leaves a mess. And we've just started.

Half the troops from Gulf War 1 are disabled from Gulf War Syndrome. They were over there about 2 months. Wait til the toll starts happening with out troops now. The troops should just march out the door and tell the republicans to do it themselves. They and their buddy corporations are making all the money.
