Donna Brazile (Campaign Mgr. for Gore) on the Board of a Neo-Con
Foundation?

Surely there is a mistake. I just read the definitive breakdown of all the Neo-Con think tanks, Foundations, Institutes, you name it.

In the next to last paragraph of the link below, is listed "Foundation for the Defense of Democracies."

The Board of Directors includes Steve Forbes, Jeane Kirkpatrick and Jack Kemp. The Distinguished Advisors include Newt Gingrich, James Woolsey, Gary Bauer,Charles Jacobs, Donna Brazile (Presidential Campaign Manager for Al Gore in 2000) Charles Krauthammer, William Kristol, Frank Gaffney, Richard Perle.

Someone tell me this is a mistake! Donna Brazile is one of the good guys, right?

1. I trust Donna Brazile as much as I trust Rove
And they are friends.

One has to wonder about the 2000 Gore campaign and how many decisions she made on scheduling that "helped" * more than Gore.

One could wonder about a thread on here a couple days ago about the Union workers in WV and what pissed them off. Was that a Donna scheduling thing?????????????

on edit: Maybe it's not so bad, Schumer, Lautenberg and Zell Miller are also on the board, along with Bill Kristol, of course.

6. Frustrated Democrat Makes Friends in GOP
WASHINGTON -- Two years ago, Donna Brazile, then Al Gore's campaign manager, was engaged in daily combat with Karl Rove, then George W. Bush's top campaign strategist.
Today, they chirpily exchange e-mail, chat on the phone and write letters, indulging in their shared zeal for the inner workings of politics.

''I like her a lot,'' said Mr. Rove, now ensconced in the West Wing as President Bush's chief political adviser.

Ms. Brazile, a committed Democrat who was the first black woman to manage a presidential campaign, has built similar relationships with other Republicans, like Grover Norquist, an influential conservative strategist. And her coziness with them comes as she is deeply frustrated with her own party for what she calls years of taking African-Americans for granted and for failing to organize for elections in a coherent way.

In fact, Ms. Brazile's alienation could well be viewed as emblematic of a Democratic Party in disarray.

5. So are...
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 08:30 PM by wyldwolf
Sen. Charles E. Schumer, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Rep. Eliot Engel, and Dr. Charles Jacobs, co-founder and President of the American Anti-Slavery Group in Boston, and Director of the Sudan Campaign.

Dr. Jacobs graduated from Rutgers University and received his Doctorate from Harvard in 1989. As a teenager, Dr. Jacobs was active in the civil rights movement, and attended Dr. Martin Luther King's March on Washington in 1963.

ALL neocons... right?

11. And You Lead To The Question- Should We Segregate Ourselves?
Should Democrats not work for or with Republicans?

Should we shun Republican freindships?

Should we just give up Institutions and Organizations because there are Neo-Cons present?

And if we say YES, how do we compete when we end up totally out of the loop?

I do not know.... but it seems easy to imagine that alot of psychic baggage is emerging from Civil War Days.

8. She may look at it as
infiltration and getting some of the BFEE's cash at the same time.

Time will tell.

10. There was a time when
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 09:18 PM by Donna Zen
I was unkind about Donna Brazile. I believe I was complaining about her seeming lack of political instinct and boldness. Someone who knew much more than I, pointed out that Brazile was really bound up in Gore's campaign, because of the structure for the flow of money. Also, this person out that Donna Brazile is one of the most experience and best GOTV people in the business; that Al Gore would have actually lost or not been competitive in many states if not for Brazile efforts.

I was glad to be corrected and embarrassed that I had bought the Donna plus Karl spin. While she may not ever be a fire breathing Democrat, I hope that she keeps her talents firmly in our camp.

<edit> Seelye is a trouble maker.

12. I, too, am going to hope for the best. And I think that Chuck Schumer
does some good things. But I do wish Karl Rove didn't like her so much!
