so it's nice to see them take the initiative. The world must be saved from Pamela Anderson and the Dixie Chicks, for sure.

10. Outrageous
Well, if some freeper wanted to boycott ALL of the celebrities on the list then you might as well never see a movie or watch tv again.

I happen to like Avril Lavigne. Now I will get a hard on next time I buy one of her CD's, she is so hot. Plus I will buy something freepers are boycotting.

2 good things for the price of one.

But really, this whole Hollywood boycott makes me sick. I happen to like Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) along with at least half of that list. This whole patriotism thing and boycott those that don't agree with the whole republican agenda pisses me off.

He and Cassandra used to live in my neighbourhood.
Apparently being on that list makes him a wimp, personally I think
bringing up Cassandra's heartbroken children by himself, makes him a
really good man.

Someone mentions Robert Montgomery who was a violent bully to his family. I heard an old interview with Elizabeth Montgomery.
So he is a fine example of Freeper manhood.

but $25. is bull. They get more maximum $2000.00 contributions than Democrats do because more wealthy people vote Republican. Money is their GOD. You worship money and odds are great you are a Republican. This new campaign finance law is a big boon to Republicans and hurts Democrats badly.

23. Thats an impressive group. Hopefully this might shift some perceptions
of what being a concerned citizen is all about. How can concern for the environment and pets and war be in any way wrong?

In my Republican days, that list would have shaken me a little, because frankly that (for the most part) is an impressive and talented crew of people.

In the end, its not about Republican or Democrat, its about taking an active part in doing what is right for the planet and everything living on it. How did that ever get political?

I think thats where the political divisiveness (us versus them)promotes division between people, when in reality, I believe we all really want the same thing. Weve just gotten so caught up in labels.

And a divisive media run by a select and wealthy few, (someone please name me a wealthy liberal who owns some media - I would be very happy) that actually has the gall to portray organizations that actually want to be fair as extremist and radical. They have no idea what damage they are doing to all of us, or rationalize their profits as the "American" way.

How is affirming life, rather than exploiting it and using it solely for financial gain radical or extremist? We already have so many creatures that have been virtually extinguished and greatly reduced in number and they are not even around that much any more.

When I was young and went to camp in South Texas, there used to be nights where there were millions of fire flies - so many that you could take a jar and just scoop them out of the air. That is just a memory now. And crawdads down at the creek. There isnt anything really in those urban Texas creeks anymore that I have seen, except carp. And bull-frogs, and toads - where have all the toads gone? I havent been in Texas in a couple of years, but I cant imagine its gotten any better.

The extinction is gradual, but at some point we all ask, hey remember those preying mantis things we used to see around alot, whatever that is now just not around. (Although I do know praying mantis are being "bred" now for gardens).

Our media, that could be a bastion for healthy living and care for our planet, instead delivers hate, intolerance, violence, division against religious groups, racial groups, financial groups and of course provides us overwhelmingly with whatever new product that we HAVE to have - because we are not good enough if we dont have it. It makes no sense. Is profit the only thing motivating these individuals. Do they not have children? Do they not have a concern for the care of this planet? Are they just going to leave it to the so-called "libruls" to clean up the mess?

People dont realize how much of our biosphere and ecology is disappearing daily. Development and profit is one thing. Survival is another. We must find a way where economy is not soley driven on consumption of natural resources.

I admit these actors have their grand moments...but don't be fooled.

Most are the puppets of the broadcasters and the record companies. And they are getting ready for the big conversion to digital television by 2008. Does it sound great?...normally it would be awesome!!!

But watch out, and bend over because here it comes. If you try to record anything, you will not be able to without a decrypter. If you have a decrypter and you use it just to record copyrighted material, you will be breaking federal law. They will use supercomputers to moniter transmissions over the internet, and digital watermarks to determine which material is copyrighted and worth prosecuting individuals or so-called digital "pirates" over.

Thank Orrin Hatch, thank the Democratic leadership...but hold on to your VCR tapes and your analog television, because making any digital recordings could put you in prison! And we need you more, right here at DU..

what a list. i think they're telling freepers to stop watching everything except for the fox news channel.

there's actually some great quotes to be found in here, like this one from christiane amanpour:

"I think the press was muzzled, and I think the press self-muzzled. I'm sorry to say, but certainly television and, perhaps, to a certain extent, my station was intimidated by the administration and its foot soldiers at Fox News. And it did, in fact, put a climate of fear and self-censorship, in my view, in terms of the kind of broadcast work we did."

and fox's unbelievable response:

"Given the choice, it's better to be viewed as a foot soldier for Bush than a spokeswoman for al-Qaeda."

oh the freepers crack me up when they take aim at their own foot...

"Very interesting list, thanks for posting it.

However, if you really wanna piss off the left, include front, side and three quarter profiles. Include details on personal habits, relationships and known associates, favorite cafes, frequented shopping and entertainment venues. Oh yeah, don't forget the always popular information such as where they live, phone numbers, make, model and license number of their cars.

After all, since the stars themselves are happy to share with us all their most intimate thoughts about the most ridiculous topics, especially their insights on political theory, there are enquiring minds that want to know everything else about the stars no matter how insignificant."

Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 07:07 AM by Kamika
Have we EVER done anything remotely similar to this childish stuff?

I mean do we go out and say we wont watch arnold movies , or mel gibson or bruce willis movies?? and i think frasier is superfun. I know for one i dont give a damn and neither does my friends.

Also i have met ALOT of conservatives that would value a dogs life way more then some homeless life.. these guys should be careful branding all animal right activists as libruls etc.

And most of those guys are DAMN handsome

oh edit: this answer in that thread was just incredible

"To: Charles Henrickson

Most of those people are losers anyway. Not an advanced college degree amongst them

57. Three thoughts
First, I think it cool. If you look at their list, you will see that it is pretty much a who's who of anyone who is remotely cool in the world. In order to satisfy their collective dementia, they will have to limit their exposure to people like Charlie Danials.

Second, I don't think we should cast too many stones. It's not like the residents of DU have not singled out conservatives like Ahnuld, Stallone and Willis to boycott. However, at least we haven't codified it into a list as far as I know.

Finally, this is not a black list. Free Republic is to in consequential for this to be considered a black list.

Dennis Miller
Kelsey Grammer
Ahhnuld Gropenegger
Tom Arnold

On the other hand, do these "artists" have anything to boycott???

Or is could be that FReepers like loosers!

I'm sure that there is something about Ritter that would piss them off. Bob Hope isn't very popular around here, but I am pretty sure that he did somethings that should have landed him on the blacklist.

If Elvis had lived, he'd have had a posiiton in Clinton's cabinet, for sure. :)

And "Shakespere"? Jesus, they don't even know how to spell his name. I can only imagine how delightfully he'd have ripped into the Bush Administration.

They are against anybody who A) wants to preserve animal life, B) wants to preserves plant life, C) wants to preserve ocean life, D)wants to preserve human life in Iraq, and E) is politically active in any form or fashion for(percieved) left wing causes.

Gee, I guess these folks want to live in a world where the human masses blindly follow their facists masters and there is no life except human life, and that too can become expendable.

Yep, sounds like sheeple to me! BAA BAA!

I'm surprised anyone there cares about advanced degrees. I thought they considered all educated people to be liberal elites.

"Filmmaker Robert Redford is indicative of a growing pool of American celebrities who, having made their millions in entertainment, now see fit to exert their clout and money in order to restrict our choices."

But when conservatives do the same thing, the morans applaud.

And this slimy comment:
"You still can't play yet. #6, Paul Wellstone tried sliding into one of his political bases and was badly injured. I'm afraid he's out for the season and most likely retired for good. Of course, he'll still vote every election."
I wish he would still vote; it would be one of the more intelligent votes out there. I need to go take a shower now!

71. I swear, it's so weird. It's like they TRY to be evil.
I mean seriously- PRO-war rallies, they hate environmentalists, they hate people who talk about humane treatment for animals, they hate human rights organizations...

I swear to christ, it's a sickness. I've listened to people like this talk before and I'm serious- if you bring up an issue they aren't familiar with, their first instinct is to run straight to defending the bad guys.

I have a cousin like this. We had this exchange last year (I'm paraphrasing).

"Did you know that indians are being murdered in central america?"

"Well they deserve it!"

"Why?"

"...I don't know."

Weird shit. I think they're just boot-lickers, and all the rest stems from their unhealthy fascination with authority.

72. Wow looks like a great list
of intelligent, compassionate individuals.

Very diverse list also, considering a DU blacklist would consist mostly of stodgy old rich white guys.

I'd add Angelina Jolie to that. Given her work in charity, she's bound to be left-leaning.

Where's Morgan Freemen also? I know he's no Bush fan.

While we're adding my favorite actresses/actors, where's Edward Norton?

Someone who disagrees with them just a little bit is blacklisted? Strahan? How do you boycott him? I guess don't purchase Chunky Soup. Avril Lavigne is an outspoken liberal activist? Since when? I will watch Mel Gibson movies despite his politics, I will watch Robert Duvall movies despite his politics. When I watch a movie all I care about is am I going to be entertained, politics fly out the window when I watch a movie or an entertaining tv show.

85. At least they haven't started beating or murdering the blacklisted
(yet)

Probably during the reign of Emperor Jeb, Ahnold, or perhaps it will hold off until as late as the late 2020s during the Mad Reign of Emperor George P. Caligula.

Make no mistake, the Busheviks are playing with fire when they utilize Nazi-style propaganda strategies (dehumanization, Orwellian lies laundered through repetition, etc.) and, whether they want murder, mayhem and 1940s Missippi style assaults (complete with Bushevik Officials looking the other way), it might happen anyway.

Not that I'm certain that the Busheviks would be upset if that strated happening (as long as they could get away with it, of course).
