Dixie Chicks STILL blacklisted from radio.
Since the Dixie Chicks used their fisrt amendment rights to speak their minds, country radio has all but banned them. As a listener of country, I don't hear them on the radio. It's as if they have been abducted by aliens. So if you want a career in the country music industry you'd best be a redneck or forget it.

1. Career in the music industry?
Quaint and nostalgic, but these days it's more like a career in the information industry.

READ THIS LETTER:

SNIP:
See, can you understand now why I don't have time to constantly defend my partners and myself? Oh speaking of partners, Martie did want me to clear up two things that she absolutely did not say in any shape, form or fashion. She wants it to be known that she never complained about not winning any ACM awards. I told her nobody who has ever seen what an ACM award looks like is going to believe she said any such thing. But nevertheless she wanted to clear that up. The second thing was that she never said we were a part of the "rock and roll family" now. I once again told her I didn't think it was necessary to clear that up. I mean, as of yet, I wasn't aware we had made a rock album. As a matter of fact, I think I recall our last album being bluegrass. So there you have it. Do with it what you will.
end SNIP

This was published right after the incident, I wonder why this didn't get the publicity, their other statement did.

2. The Boss is picking up the slack
They still play Born in the USA on a ton of Clearchannel stations.

Seems the boys in the corporate radio offices are too stupid to realize what Born in the USA is about, or that Cheney isn't welcome at his concerts, or that he's been pluggin Franken's new book.

8. They still play "Born in the USA" because, being typical Cons
they haven't figured out what it means yet.

3. Didn't you hear? The Chicks banned C&W
A month or so ago, they announced that they should no longer be considered part of the country music genre. So I doubt their lack of airplay is hurtful to them.

4. I love the Chicks but
I don't listen to country radio. Have you called your country stations and requested a Dixie Chicks song, or asked why they never play them?

5. The Chicks...
have decided to leave the country format (although they were never really country). A smart move because their true fan base will always be there, plus they can now expand to a wide, more intelligent and more tolerable audience.

7. Occasionally, my wife and I
would go to a country music concert or buy a CD from a country artist. However, that has changed in that we will only buy Dixie Chicks (as far as that genre goes), or some folk and rock CD's. We will never grace a country music concert again, either, or watch the CMA. People who burn CD's and teach their children to as well as teach them blind allegiance to the right wing and disrespect for the constitutional principles of free speech would have fit right in with German society in the 1930's. These people are not patriotic because they don't have the American character and spirit of 1776.

10. I stopped listening to country music radio the day
After they got banned. Haven't been back since. Listen to oldies and my own damn CD's. It did make me go out and by their album though, which I probably would not have done had they not gotten the Rove treatment like they did.

11. They should go Pop or Rock...
The should dump the whole Dixie thing and just be Chicks.

Hey Chicks! Come on over here to the left. We'll take you just as your are and we'll play your tunes too!
There's always room on the left!
