My question is does the Dem candidates view this as an issue and if so what are they doing about it in advance of 04 and what are they preparing to do afterwards if this should occur? I have not heard any candidates address voting issues. I think they should come out now and say that the public expects fair elections and assure the public that this will happen which would put anyone on notice who has plans of maneuvering the elections that this will not be tolerated.I think "forewarned is forearmed" is applicable in this instance. I think quite a few people got turned off in 2000 and will not come back in the political arena unless they hear and are somewhat convinced of this assurance. Gadsden county Florida had the highest rate of votes thrown out in Florida and with most of those folks being Afro-Americans and I know they are turned off because they just don't trust the system.I live about 35 miles form this county and know many folks living there and have heard the remarks. They were turned on in 2000 as never before but turned off as never before also. Those folks and others like them would come back in my opinion but they have to have someone to stand up for them and say we will not let this happen this time, your vote will count. Who has the guts in the Democratic party( among winnable candidates) to say this and then stand behind it before the election and then afterwards if necessary?

repubs have already staked out their strategy and course of actions so how can we get the candidates to focus some attention on this matter and keep it in the public's eye till election? Let's face it it doesn't matter how many people go to the polls it's the counted votes that count. To spend millions of dollars campaigning and not truly address this issue and often is a major flaw in my opinion. I believe the repubs have a win at any cost attitude, so will the Dems rise to meet that challenge? What I mean by this is will they stand up for the people who count on them to do so?
