Kucinich on the House floor now, grilling Duncan Hunter (C-SPAN)
Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 12:38 AM by ticapnews
Must-See TV.

He only had a minute :(

Now Barney Frank is up.

According to Hunter, ANWR is NOT in the defense appropriations bill any longer...but NO ONE HAS READ IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH YET. Kucinich is trying to wade through the hundreds of pages of the bill.

He did find (on page 210) a reference to secret detention centers in Iraq, but the language said the Congress had no authority over these and there was no further mention of them!

1. That's a lie.
"Congress had no authority over them"

If Congress had no authority over them, then their mention wouldn't be in any appropriation bill. Congress pays the bills. That's Congress's authority over them.

Paying for them is the same as approving of them.

2. These bills should be sent to
everyone in Congress as a PDF file or some sort of file. Then they could do a search on key words. But I guess that would be too easy and they couldn't hide stuff in there.

:-(

3. Please tell me you are joking....
I mean, the incompetence wouldn't surprise me, but are the bills really not available in electronic format?

5. The bills are printed and left for the Congressmen to read...
Kucinich carried the appropriations bill onto the floor, it is hundreds of pages. It will be available electronically sometime this week.

6. 5-6 inches of paper
The Clerk was holding it, and it was thick, really thick. No WAY in gods green earth that anyone has read the damned thing.

7. I bet Kucinich still is...
Hopefully he's borrowed a few copies from other members and his staff are combing the bill now.

Another GOP hack is up now trying to stick ANWR back in the appropriations bill - despite Duncan Hunter telling Kucinich point blank it had been removed.

4. Hunter was in cahoots with Cunningham
He'll try to feed that War Machine any way he can and shouldn't be trusted under any circumstances.
