"I hate President George W. Bush. There, I said it."
This is the article that got Jonathan Chait (of The New Republic) on CNN's Crossfire today. Continued, with link to the rest of the piece...

"I think his policies rank him among the worst presidents in U.S. history. And, while I'm tempted to leave it at that, the truth is that I hate him for less substantive reasons, too. I hate the inequitable way he has come to his economic and political achievements and his utter lack of humility (disguised behind transparently false modesty) at having done so. His favorite answer to the question of nepotism--"I inherited half my father's friends and all his enemies"--conveys the laughable implication that his birth bestowed more disadvantage than advantage. He reminds me of a certain type I knew in high school--the kid who was given a fancy sports car for his sixteenth birthday and believed that he had somehow earned it. I hate the way he walks--shoulders flexed, elbows splayed out from his sides like a teenage boy feigning machismo. I hate the way he talks--blustery self-assurance masked by a pseudo-populist twang. I even hate the things that everybody seems to like about him. I hate his lame nickname-bestowing-- a way to establish one's social superiority beneath a veneer of chumminess (does anybody give their boss a nickname without his consent?). And, while most people who meet Bush claim to like him, I suspect that, if I got to know him personally, I would hate him even more."

2. Like "Night of the Living Dead" we Bush Haters can come
out of our homes, offices, schools and caves. We have been outed and it feels sooooo good.

We are brethren . . .companions on the journey. Who knows how many closet Bush haters are lurking jusst waiting for a chance to find others who loathe and despise Bush as much as they do.

Alleluia, brothers and sisters.

3. That author says things perfectly.
Chait finds the perfect words to describe what many of us (myself certainly included) feel. He put what I feel into words much better than I could have.

9. I love the way he goes on.
To differentiate between Clinton haters and Bush* haters. Bush haters do not come to their dislike of him through merely matters of personal style or upbringing. They don't hate him just because he is stupid. They actually hate him for what he has done in full public view intentionally as his announced policy.

This is sane hatred my friends, based in reality. The better you get a grip on who the man actually is the more it grows.

I positively despise Junior and all he stands for! I won't be satisfied until he is either impeached or convicted for war crimes. He deserves to be imprisoned at 'hard labor' for the rest of his natural life!

16. The man's a pathological liar, and he used my tax $ to murder children
like this one below.

I wanted to like him, I even felt sorry for him after 9/11, but he has blown it. He exploited the deaths those who died on 9/11 in order to go on a killing spree from the safety of his luxurious office.

He is a coward, a bully, a liar, and a crook.

I guess that means I hate him. I hate to even use the word "hate". He is an abomination as an American and a human being. He is why we have electric chairs.

19. He is the most loathsome creature on the planet...
He looks like a primate, is incapable of forming or articulating a coherent thought, delights in killing, has been handed every job he's ever held (including his present one) without breaking a sweat simply by virtue of his name -- and managed to bungle every one of them.

What kind of a person tells jokes about the events of 9/11?
What kind of a person mocks someone whose death warrant they've signed?
What kind of a person would stand on the rubble of Ground Zero with a megaphone acting like a high school cheerleader?
What kind of a person sends young men and women off to be maimed or die in Iraq for no reason other than greed?
What kind of a person goes to the head of the National Guard line in wartime, and then walks away from his commitment?
What kind of a person insists that taxes be slashed for the wealthiest Americans while programs to assist the most vulnerable among us are cut or underfunded?

Bush is guilty of all of this and much more. I have nothing but utter contempt for him. I live for the day when we once again have a president worthy of the honor.

23. Chait seems fairly moderate.
This struck me as odd:

"While liberals may be overreacting to Bush's foreign policy decisions-- remember their fear of an imminent invasion of Syria?..."

There was every reason to be concerned about a possible invasion of Syria or Iran. The same concerns still remain. It's not "fringe" hysteria, it's just rational observation.

Anyway, I agree with practically the whole article. It's a very articulate explanantion of why so many of us hate Bush.
