I Just Saw Scarborough County For the First Time

And it was terrible. I only recently got cable (graduated college a year ago)--I couldn't believe how horrible this guy is.

Does anybody watch him?
Does anyone know what his ratings are?
How does that schmuck have a TV show?

(Incidentally: He spent a large portion of the time ragging on my man Clark, calling him a Republican. Why do people on DU agree with this Scarborough creep?)

9. He's awful... but he also represents something awful

same time frame as the Chandra Levy story... another tragedy. Staffer falls at the home office... strikes head on corner of table... and dies (on a weekend in the office, i believe, and no witnesses). Contradictory initial reports - including she had a heart attack (after jogging) and hit her head (with enough force to kill her)... Now while there is a media circus going on around Congressman Condit... this other Congressman's name and this story barely make it into the news. The difference in media attention of these two basically concurrent stories... was... interesting.

Now guess who congressman got off the media hot hook was....????

8. Scarborough is an utter waste

I watched him for the better part of a week. He was in Hollywood, railing against those pesky lib'ral celebrities who think they have the right to free speech or something! Then he was cracking wise about Gary Condit, which is ironic, considering that he had a young woman die under strange circumstances too (in his office, no less).

Oh, and his rating is about 0.4 or something, which in MSNBC lingo is called "healthy." Donahue was pulling higher numbers (highest-rated show on MSNBC at the time), and they yanked him within a year. But they'll keep this jerk (Bill O'Reilly with better hair) until hell can accommodate polar bears.

12. I hate it how...

..on The Daily Show, he made it a point to separate his show from "the mainstream media". He kept talking as if the "mainstream media" was doing one thing, but his show was on a whole 'nother independent, underground level.

Thats funny because its "mainstream media" to the extreme.

He reminds me a lot of Bill O'Reilly in that matter (ie. pretending to be a normal person with a non-mainstream show who cares about people and doesn't support any party or particular polical ideology--BULLSHIT).

They're not just last, they're waaaaaaay last. Olberman isn't as much of a tool as I thought at first, but Tweety's scum and Scarborough's just a pathetic transparent reactionary.

There's simply no reason for this network to exist. Anyone who wants massively skewed rah-rah fascism has Fox; there's literally no audience for this mistake of an enterprise.
