1. Heh, someone voted right
I believe I am left of the Democratic Party, but Kerry himself seems pretty...liberal as well.

2. A realistic liberal
Who respects that not everybody sees the world the way I do and that listening and communicating will move us forward more quickly than demanding I have it completely my way every time.

9. Ditto!
Can I say that around here? But in all seriousness, I don't have litmus tests for my political leaders or my political allies. I come from the "half a loaf is better than nothing" school that says achieve what's possible now, and work for more later.

5. Liberal Left and PROUD
Like many of the finest on DU, my politics would be classified as Social-Democrat. I believe ALL people are created equal. I believe the power of the state should be used for the benefit of ALL. I believe ALL people have certain inalienable rights, to which I'd add economic rights to the great protections codified in the United States Constitution.

Regarding Sen. John Kerry: Yeh. I'm proud to support him. One reason is how he himself describes his positions. He said he's Liberal when it comes to many things and conservative when it comes to others. He was talking about how the nation's news media have created these artificial distinctions. What he was driving home is that some issues should be ALL Americans: viz, a strong national defense, a strong economy, good jobs for all, good educations for all, public safety for all, a home for all... You ALL get the picture.

6. liberal, but
i consider myself left wing liberal. on social issues like gay rights, abortion rights, gay rights, etc i'm left wing liberal. i also support those with more money having to pay more taxes. but on issues like trade, i'm more supportive of it than gephardt or kucinich, so probably center left on that issue. i like kerry's support and work on civil rights, and the environment, which in many cases is connected.

7. Moderate liberal
I'm a liberal but not an ultra-liberal. I don't believe in a lot of the conspiracy theories regarding Bush and the "evil empire", I am a devoted capitalist, love America, etc. I want strong environment, good health care for all, more restriction on gun control.
