Important thing to ponder about why RNC is dragging out Barbara Bush
Junior is slipping and the RNC is desparate because if he slips too far behind he will have to work an uphill battle to beat a Democrat (no matter who it is).

I don't believe the polls I think Bush is doing horribly, many people I meet are absolutely disgusted by this administration and that includes Republicans.

Dragging his mother out to label dems and promote her son is an act of desparation and I think that it is an attempt to salvage the votes of women... Bush has attacked women's right to choose, he has given people this lousy "no child left behind" and a lot of women were against this war....now he thinks his mom will help drag his ass out of this situation...

If anyone remembers the 2000 election they will remember that Bush started dragging mommy and daddy out to help him during the last weeks...when he knew he was losing the popular vote.

3. book money isn't nothing compared to what they are sitting on already
this is a marketing ploy for her son...not her silly book...for some reason there are a lot of people who liked her prior to the 2000 election but some of her nastiness has now poisoned the well...but junior hasn't figured it out.

4. I have been wondering if this explains the Ted Kennedy award
Can't you just hear the media people bringing up over and over how "bipartisan" and "statesman-like" Bush Sr. is because he gave Kennedy an award, while old Poppy and Babs blast away at the Democrats?

Why else would a Bush give a Kennedy an award. They have hated them and been jealous of them for years. Not that Ted Kennedy doesn't deserve an award, but getting it from Bush Sr. is a joke. It's like J Lo giving Meryl Streep an acting award.

5. I know...there are two sides to that story...some think its a slap in the
face to Jr...others think of it as a way to make the RNC look gracious...

6. Mommy, help me!
Bar's the one in the family who isn't a wimp, that's why he needs her. I'm still laughing about the chapter in Al Franken's book when he describes his meeting her on a plane and what a humorless bitch "America's Grandmother" really is. Anyone who was alive in 1984 knows the nasty things she said about Geraldine Ferraro.

saying awful things about Dems because "she is so highly respected." Wrinkles, pearls and gray hair does not make her any less evil.

10. It's a tie-in with her upcoming movie debut
(Peter Jackson doesn't rely entirely on CGI.)

At last, in the role she was born to play: Barbara Bush as Shelob!

12. Did you catch her "sorry group" comment?
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 01:14 PM by mreilly
I really got a kick out of that one - she referred to the group of Democrats who will challenge her pathetic little failure of a son for the Presidency as "a sorry group, if you want my opinion." Actually, no, Bar, we don't want your misbegotten, ignorant opinion, nor that of any of your clan of utter assholes, so please don't waste the time of others with your incoherent babbling.

Barbara Bush spewed out four criminal sons into this world; four turds guilty of drunk driving, coke sniffing, wartime-desertion, election-stealing, savings-and-loan scamming, drug-user-raising, and insider trading. Four pampered, privileged undeserving pieces of human garbage, whose existence hasn't done a damned thing to benefit humanity. And their mother feels she has earned the right to judge other people?

I think it's long past the time when anyone ought to care about whatever a Bush thinks, for history has proven on numerous occasions that their opinions are not only wrong but detrimental to this country. One can only hope it will be "Bye Bye Bush!" yet again - for the final time, please? - next year.

13. "four criminal sons"
I read an analysis somewhere once that speculated that all the Bush sons have a bit of an Oedipus Complex. Daddy was away a bunch being a lying robbing A-hole so the boys only had mommy to love. As a result they try to be be bigger and badder A-holes than dad in an attempt to win their mother's love.

14. Softening his image..
Bush has a shitty image, and he's proving incapable of improving it. He is simply a shitty guy.

He had a chance with the Brit Hume puff piece, but he did nothing with it.

I don't think Barbara will help very much, she's not a lot better than Bush. Poppy I think is a more sympathetic figure. Even considering what we all know about him, he's capable of coming off well. Just look at the way he's benignly portrayed on SNL, or on the Simpsons.
