Pakistan will deploy nuclear missiles and warheads at Saudi bases under military-nuclear accord signed in Islamabad by Crown prince Abdullah. DEBKAfile adds: Pakistani security umbrella will replace US troop presence withdrawn from kingdom this summer. Deal flatly defies Bush warning to Abdullah this year not to deploy nuclear weapons on Saudi soil.

Iran promised visiting EU ministers to sign Additional Protocol authorizing snap international inspections of its nuclear sites. Tehran also agreed to temporarily halt nuclear enrichment.

DEBKAfile: These partial concessions may slow down Iran’s advance towards nuclear bomb but will not eliminate program or uncover all its secrets. Tehran aims to buy its way out of October 31 deadline for coming clean on its nuclear activities. In Jerusalem, Israeli military intelligence chief warned Knesset in ten months Iran would reach point of no return in nuclear bomb development. It will then be too late for diplomacy.
