9 out of 10 Iraqis say: "life is worse" since US Occupation...
At least in this Faces and Voices interview at Aljazeera News:

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/D5F3F1EC-CC47-4AF3-A2D3-0053AC34EA0A.htm

example:

<snip>
Um Qusay
Housewife, 54

"In Saddam's day, the government provided me with the medicine I needed. I haven't had any for seven months now, my joints have ached ever since this war began. Occupation has only meant physical pain for me."

"In Saddam's day, I had a ration book. I was always given my fair share. Now it's as if I don't exist."

"Worse, I used to be able to visit my family and friends, I had my own car – now I daren't leave the house."

(Um Qusay did not want to be photographed, but instead showed me a poster given to her grandson at school – warning him that occupation forces might shoot children who play with imitation guns.)

...Yep folks, things are peachy in Iraq!

8. Didn't know Al Jazeera wasn't reliable
They were actually showing parts of the war US media didn't. I think they even won some type award which was given to the least censored news network. But of course the pundits at Faux News calls Al Jazeera unreliable.

13. NPR found Aljazeera credible enough to have a representative on today.
I find their reports much more credible than anything spewed from any neocon, gladly invited to spew on any TV channel here in murica.

4. They will change their tune after a few hours of intensive interrogation

The regime has shown great restraint but is launching a new offensive of harsh measures guaranteed to stamp out anti-Coalitionism.

Cutting off UN Food supplies will help a lot with that too, since that's the only food so many Iraqis get, after a while, they will no longger harbor anti-Coalition sentiments.

5. Ain't liberation great?
Fayiz, Importer
"...I can import everything from Jordan and Syria and there are no taxes or duties to pay to the government because we don't have one."

Shakir, Butcher
"...I can say whatever I like to whomever I want – but that doesn't put bread on the table..."

Of course, the Bush White House will say this survey isn't scientific.

7. Bullshit.
While I really doubt things are as positive as some pundits are saying about Iraq, I'd be willing to bet anything put on al jazeera is a load of horseshit. I hope you are taking it witha grain of salt.

9. Al Jazeera is more reliable then any US news
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 12:42 PM by VermontDem2004
You were obviously duped by the US media that Al Jazeera is unreliable, they may pick and choose which stories they choose but their stories are accurate. Alot of the stories at Al Jazeera are stories I seen in the US news and I visit there quite a bit. But I guess since they are a news network with brown people therefore they are anti-american and make up news. I also believe they won an international news network award.

11. I wouldn't trust al-Jazeera for factuality
But that's not what is important here. What I think is important is that al-Jazeera is telling us about Arab/Muslim perceptions of what we do. I can get facts most anywhere. My ability to learn what Arab/Muslim perceptions is much more limited. So, while I think that the actual poll is bullshit, I think that the perception is true.

10. 9 out of 10 Americans should say the same thing.
The economy was better under Clinton.

My taxes overall were lower under Clinton.

I had a job under Clinton.

Where are the media on all this?
