Elizabeth Edwards reads DU (who's the DU'er she sat next to?)
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 02:20 PM by AP
From the blog today:

Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa has billboards professing it is what is college is supposed to be.  Judging from the beautiful campus and the good turnout of students, it must be true.  The fellow who sat closest to me at a rally had a Democratic Underground T-shirt on, but when I asked him his screen name (I sometimes check out their forum), he demurred (as I used to say when I practiced law) and it probably was unfair to ask him to say it aloud in a crowded room.

Next stop, the child care center at the VA hospital in Knoxville. Pam Mahoney leads a staff with an unbelievably low turnover rate, which is great for the children.  What is not great for the children -- or the community -- is that the VA is slated to close the center and the hospital and even to demolish the support buildings when the hospital is reduced to an outpatient clinic.  Not only is this a failure to keep our commitment to veterans and evidence of a lack of vision about how to use our existing resources, it is also a huge blow to a working community, the kind of community this President seems to have forgotten except in election season.

Now the long drive to Iowa City. I'll check in later.

6. What do you mean by "refuses"
And I haven't heard a single candidate talk about it.

People are always talking about giving Dean information about it in person, yet he hasn't included it in his stump speeches or in the debates yet, has he? I don't listen to them all, but I haven't heard him mention it yet.

7. Actually, Dean has made talked of it...
...I think several of the candidates have. It was discussed at the Iowa forum hosted by Harkin.

in congress at the House and the Senate along with the SoS, local and state election officials. NO Democratic repesentative in my state has shown the least bit of interest in this issue. Quite suprising for Edwards given the cash outlay for a presidential bid. Which again begs the question of why.

9. Hi EE!
Best of luck to Sen. Edwards! Stay in there - the early primaries are a wildly dynamic bunch of twists and turns... I can not tell you the number of folks who have said that they have been impressed with Sen. Edwards in the debates.
