smoking and drinking his way through it just doesn't cut it...

we love you, Will, but the number of people who smoke and are 'educated enough to read your books' is very low (see my post #29 below for the actual statistics)....smoking does offend many people (those who have quit and those who never smoked)...second-hand smoke is obnoxious and poisonous to the people around you...

I give many speeches to technical audiences at dinners. Out of respect for my audience, I totally refrain from drinking during my speeches (and I don't smoke at all, and nobody at dinners does anymore), and even afterwards, because I sit eating dinner with people who are asking me questions, and I need to be alert to answer, as a courtesy....after the event is totally over, you can always go to the nearest bar, or have them bring a drink up to your room...
