Ooo! Ooo! I just had a great idea for a protest
We need to protest the way the media is ignoring the military deaths and casualties in Iraq. Why not organize some tribute to the killed and maimed soldiers. We can display photos or names of every soldier. And for each fallen soldier, we can have a person arms outstretched holding a flag and then have those people stand single file so that people could see how long the line is. We'd have to be veeerrry careful that it be seen as a memorial to the soldiers and a protest for more attention to their suffering and for better treatment of soldiers rather than as political exploitation. We could publicize information like how hot it is in Iraq and how little water they are rationed, and how long the average tour of duty now is (esp. compared to past wars and conflicts).

1. I think you've got a great idea.
We should definitely plan something like this.

2. How about a parade with people carrying 300 boxes
with flags draped over them?

6. I'm not actually planning anything.
This thought just occured to me and I'm actually hoping some proactive DUer (with some experience in organizing such things) will want to use this idea.

5. That was actually my first thought...
But I was afraid it might be seen as insensitive. That's why I suggested people simply holding flags and standing single file. It would be good if we could get many families of the fallen soldiers to participate.
