Regan's legacy

CONs have so many strategic efforts underway to steal the country's history, it boggles the mind. Regan has been one of their pet projects for quite some time. They want to make him a great man--erase JFK's genuine legacy and replace it with Regan's near depression-union busting efforts--not understanding that greatness is not assigned but earned and that there's room for both JFK and Regan in history if they deserve it.

Now that I'm more politically aware, I recall hearing announcements of the namings of different monuments for him and, in passing, would wonder to myself why they would honor such a dunce. He hedged most questions at press conferences with the predictable pre-alzheimer's word: "Wellll..." and called Jimmy Carter "a real phony" in the mean spiritedness of the CONs.

We just endured the release of his "book" of love letters which has sunk on the book lists faster than this thread will. I happened upon a copy when I went to Border's Sunday. It was perched on the bottom shelf of the discount cart outside the store. Out of curiosity, I glanced at the black and white pix and then opened the cover to read: "My dearest Nancy..." and--"Welll..."--I couldn't get it out of my hands fast enough.

So now I am waiting to see a truer account of the man, the dunce on the upcoming CBS movie. Ronald Regan is the only president dumber than Bush that I've seen in my lifetime.

4. The neo-con legacy of Reagan...

is an illusion.

The big push to name a whole boatload of things after Reagan, is to ensure that future generations revere this numbskull. Since Reagan's "legacy" can't stand the test of time, the neo-cons feel that they need to have monuments.

With the exception of the current resident, Reagan was the worst president that ever occupied that office. That is no small feat by the way; consider Taft, Coolidge, Andrew Johnson, Polk and Grant, you can see how low these guys can get on the popularity poll. Difference is, The US wasn't a major world player until the '40's and WWII. Generally speaking, we kind of kept out of world politics, except fpr some wild forays into Colonialism.

I too have named something after Reagan. I am now the proud owner of the, "Ronald Reagan Memorial Throne", or to those less verbose, my toilet.
