A local boy dead because of bush.
This is so sad.

http://www.journalstar.com/local.php?story_id=91885

"American flags in his hometown were lowered. Every seat at the funeral home filled with mourners.
Staff Sgt. Christopher Wayne Swisher died Oct. 9 in Baghdad after an ambush.

He left behind his wife, Kristen, and a daughter, Alexandria. He left behind his mother, Sharon, his sister, Lisa, and his older brother, Terry. He left behind aunts and uncles, grandparents and friends.

He was just 26."

2. I hope the family can find closure
We have to find a way how to help veterans and veteran's families. Are veterans affairs programs receiving adequate funding? On top of that, the spouses of the young men and women that go off to war get paltry sums from the government. I think it is only 2000 - 3000 I think, and that's it.

37. We See Nothing on the Daily News About the Dead
no flag-draped caskets arriving - no news coverage of the funerals - no obituaries for these young people dying daily for Bush.

it should be mandatory - every day - funrals of the dead, pictures of the overcrowded military hospitals filled with wounded, pictures of Iraqi civilians mourning their dead.

Instead we read that Bush decided to give up candy while we were at "war"! This man doesn't live in the real world. He is a joke all over the world.

Bush is the most hated man on earth - more so that Saddam or Osama.

In what way did he profit from kosovo.

And even if he did in some bizarr way he had a clear motive in kosovo.

The whole Iraq ordeal is as shady as they come.

Please do not bring up any gassing of kurds etc etc, we were friends with iraq even a year after that

63. Wrong wrong so very wrong
Receiving campaign contributions is one thing. Handing out no-bid contracts (just how did that become legal and acceptable...the same way everything else does under the bootheels of Tyrants...nobody spoke up or stopped them) directly to casmpaign contributors is another thing.

Did Clinton ever hand out no-bid contracts directly to campaign contributors without letting other companies bid on them?

Of course not, because the Party-Loyal Right-Wing Sub-Media who you accept uinquestioning like a Commie accepted Pravda unquestioningly would have run with it 24/7 for several months.

Back to Faux, Bushevik Comrade. You don't want to strat thinking for yourself now, do you?

62. Sweet Christ, are you THICK?
No-bid contracts to his campagin contributors?

Just what would YOU say if Clinton had given no-bid (do you know what that means, and how it is utterly opposite of the practices of the Old American Republic...but absolutely in keeping with Bushevik-occupied Imperial Amerika) contracts for the food concessions with Tyson's Chicken? This after 300+ soldiers died and 2,000 wounded and now awarding contracts to his chums without anybody getting to place an opposing bid. Sure looks like conflict-of-interest and RICO violations to me.

I understand you are likely incapable of thinking about this in trems of Clinton. Goebbels v2.0 has very likely rendered you incapable and I can smell the smoke coming from your ears because you want to cry out what a scum Clinton would be if he did that but you can't because it intereferes with your bootlicking worship of Der Fuhrer Bunnypants*

God, go back and watch some more Faux News, in case any of your critical thinking faculties are still intact (Faux will erase those dumb old thoughts pretty quick).

And that's just one aspect of Bushevik corruption that is securing loot from Iraq.

You are very Fair and Balanced, sir.

69. You can't possibly be serious with that question?
Do you know anything about Bush*? Do you know his business history? Do you know that each company that was awarded no-bid contracts (worth billions) are heavy GOP contributers. Do you think Bush* does not benefit from Campaign donations? Do you know anything about the Carlyle Group? I would suggest some research before next election.

10. We Didn't Invade Kosovo and I don't think we had US deaths there
We didn't colonize the country and install our own rulers.

But Bush and his cronies are all profiting from a war in which didn't have to happen.

We all know that he lied about everything leading up to this war,
the WMD's, the nuclear capability, the imminent threat to the US, etc.

It was a war to even the score with Saddam for his Daddy and to make his friends who are now involved in the "reconstruction" (a word that makes me laugh because they wouldn't have needed reconstruction if we hadn't bombed the hell out of them) especially Halliburton and Bechtel.

I feel horrible for the families losing their sons, daughters, brothers, husbands and fathers because we did not have to fight this so-called WAR.

11. not quite
"that young boy knew what he was going to do and what the risks were in joining the military. everyone with a half dead brain knows you may have to see combat when you are with the US military."

yes, but most people assume that the fighting and dying they may have to be called up for is for a good reason.

the soldiers in Iraq aren't pissed that they went to war, or even that they have to now be glorified policemen.

they're pissed because they were sent halfway across the world to die in some ME hellhole because some rich white guys wanted to show the world they could still keep their dicks stiff.

hell, even the most peaceful among us here would go to fight if the purpose was right. but the war in Iraq isn't about oppressed people, it isn't about the non-existent WMD. it's about establishing a US hegemon in a part of the world that's considered to be critically important to neo-conservatives like Cheney, Rummy, and the rest. it's about money, and property, and power, and yes, some of it is about oil.

would you fight and die for that?

Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 09:24 AM by La_Serpiente
We didn't take out the problem. Sadaam was never the problem to begin with. It was Osama Bin Laden and everyone else. What this war did was flood Al Qaeda's ranks with new young bloods willing to die to stop the infidels.

And I will question whatever the President says. I am not going to be silenced like Natalie Maines was nor am I going to put up with that shit anymore.

Sadaam could never drop a nuclear bomb on us because there wasn't any evidence of a Nuclear Weapons program.

If anything, we should be buying back the Nuclear Weapons from the Soviet Union that are sitting around in some warehouse that has little security.

51. We'd bomb his ass to the ground if we found out
he had a Nuclear Weapons Capability. I would totally support something like that.

However, Bush could care less whether there were Weapons of Mass Destruction or not. That is immoral. He went in on the basis that they were there. It is immoral because nobody expected to be engagin in possible nation building for the entire Middle East. Look at what's been happening to Syria. Look at Iran. Do you thik that we're going to stop at Iraq? The PNAC cabal wants to change THE ENTIRE MIDDLE EAST. The US should not be shouldering that burden alone nor should our troops be used to "civilize" the Iraqui people. We have no legitimacy in the region and all of the countries want us out. Al Qaeda is alive over there, and Palestine is like a steak cooking on a grill. The Middle East is ROASTING right now and I don't know if we can stop it.

54. The important part of that statement that you just made...
"You don't need evidence to prove that an evil man like Saddam is a gathering power, I am not willing to take that chance of Saddam dropping a atom bomb on us."

That is the problem. Closed minds never need evidence because they have already decided. They have found 0.00 WMD's. That is why we went to war, wasn't it? Not to "free the Iraqi people". There are many more countries on the face of this earth with regime's just as oppressive, if not more. So then, ask yourself the big question, "Why Iraq?".

the big answer - They are sittin' on the oil. Plain and simple.

What pisses me off, beyond a Neatderthalic attitude and a callous disregard for the facts, is that I was lied to about the reason we went to war. This wasn't about some damn consensual blow job, or some piddly land deal where EVERYONE lost money while supposedly bilking the investors. As a result of this lie, PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR FRIGGIN' LIVES!

Look at it this way. If Israel, a country that is despised and hated throughout the region, wasn't alarmed about the "weapons of mass destruction", why were we? And besides, we "know for a fact that they have a reconstituted nuclear program" and alot of the weapons are centered "in an area around Tikrit".

Bullshit. They invented a reason to go to war with shitty, transparent evidence, and hoped we wouldn't notice or care when the evidence didn't pan out.

That is why we SHOULD care about the past.

20. if you think so...
"i would fight for my country to prevent another 9-11 and more terrorist attacks which is what these boys are doing."

keep believing that if you wish, despite the fact that Iraq and Hussein had fewer terrorist connections than pretty much any other ME country, including our great allies Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. the administration wants to pump up the idea that the war in Iraq is to improve the safety of Americans, but it isn't. if anything, stirring up the ME like this only increases our risk of being the victims of terrorist attacks on our own soil.

if Iraq was such a threat, if Hussein really could have launched chemical weapons at us in 45 minutes, where is the proof?

this war isn't in defense of the US, or even in defense of US interests. it's aim is to establish new interests. and there is no reason why our brave men and women should be dying for that.

"And in a time like this it is uncalled for to make cheap shots and outrageous accusations to the President."

when, then? when is it okay to call the administration on their behaviour? do we wait until the death toll reaches 1000? do i have to wait until my brother goes to Iraq, and comes back in a body bag? when?

13. Please try to understand this.
Bush is in the White House because of a plan put in motion way before 2000.
http://www.newamericancentury.org/

The Plan for a New American Century was in place before they chose Bush to be the President.

This war is part of the plan. Those who die in it are the pawns used by PNAC to accomplish their goals.

This is not a war about defending American freedoms or about protecting us from terrorists. It is a premeditated act by a cabal to enrich themselves at the expense of us all.

Bush is now a part of PNAC. His lies to get us into this war were all a part of the plan.

These troops are dying to enrich Bush's friends.

You can pound and beat your chest all you want, that doesnt change the fact that this invasion was based on lies, and that the only people profitting from it are Bush's corporate buddies at the cost of OUR children's lives and the lives of thousands of others..
any soldier or Guardsman who LEAVES and wont go is a hero..this isnt an honourable "war", its a dishonourable Invasion of a country to steal its oil and gain contracts for the Bush Family and their friends.

I'm not even going to start pointing out your intellectual blindness to simple fact, as you most likely won't have time to read it before you're banned. Fascist apologists have no place here. Tosser.

is why you were willing to serve and fight. Now tell us how invading Iraq serves to defend the constitution and the US??

21. Welcome aboard
:hi: I hope you stay around awhile and read a little and aren't just baiting flame. If you are here for honest discourse you might learn a few things, and I imagine we can learn a little from you.

I need to point out that the Kosovo situation was not just one that Clinton supported, but was endorsed and assisted by NATO and the UN Security Council. Next, US troops did not die in Kosovo.

Lastly, many who joint the NATIONAL Guard and reserve units do NOT beleive they will be called on to fight a war overseas. Calling up the Guard to fight overseas is a relatively new concept. Most kids who join up see a way to better their lives, pay for school and serve their community - they don't consider that they may be sent to fight a foriegn war.

40. true
most folks in the guard figure they're signing up to help out their state in times of emergency, like floods and forest fires and hurricanes etc.

most reservists think they'll be sent out someplace for a few months to assist the regular army as a sort of last resort. These reservists nowadays are being activated for over a year at a time. Not at all what they anticipated.

50. Sorry, lunabush.
Abbudabi, or whomever, doesn't want honest discourse. He wants us 'unpatriotic anti-Murikans' to stop taking cheap shots at his court-jesting organ-grinder monkey of a pResident.

First of all, abbudabi. Saddam was the tyrant WE made him. We sold him all those weapons because he was fighting the Ayatollah. Saddam may have been a murderous, war-mongering dictator, but until August 1990, he was OUR war-mongering dictator. We kicked his ass proper during the Gulf War (I was there, where were you?) and thirteen years of sanctions pretty much put the ki-bosh on any weapons program he may have been dreaming about. The only reason we went in this time is because your thin-lipped cocaine addict of a drunk frat-boy pResident wanted cheap oil for his campaign contributors and because "He wuz MEAN ta mah Daddy!" Oh, and because he couldn't get Osama Bin Laden. Your boy just can't do anything right, can he?

ANd what about North Korea? We know for a fact that they have nuclear weapons and a hard-on to use them. And what do we do? Nothing! Talk, that's all. B*sh and his cronies are too scared to fight fanatical North Korean automatons, and there's no oil there to give them incentive, is there? You're full of shit, abbudabi. Get out of DU. You're stinking up the place!

52. Thank you, Aristus
More posts from the disrupter since I started mine, and that he never bothered to respond to any of mine, I now realize I was merely feeding the trolls.

Nicely stated, btw

61. I am curious as to why he picked Abudabbi as a name
But I could've sworn I seen a thread about 5 minutes ago titled "There is a freeper in here" or something along the lines like that, but now I can't find it. I must be hallucinating.

70. Isn't it obvious?
It's the name of an Emirate (sort of - Abu Dhabi) where them evil rag heads live.

Saw the name, smelled the troll instantly.
