How dishonest is conservative media? (newsmax.com)
Please put the word out about this one. Newsmax is so freakin' self-righteous that it makes me want to puke! Organizations like this forced me to retreat from the Republican. Yeah, I was a Young Republican before learning to think for myself. Anyways, please, please, please use this as another example to demonstrate the blatant hypocrisy of the right wing zealots:

----------

Newsmax.com continually harps about how the media takes a hypocritical stance on various issues. I'd like to point out one of the reasons why I distrust the conservative media.

On Oct. 22, Newsmax screamed about the media's blatant lie:
Press in Blatant Lie, Repeatedly Calls Terri 'Comatose'
Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003 11:39 a.m. EDT
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2003/10/22/115733.shtml

However, just a few days prior, Newsmax wrote this:
Request by Comatose Woman's Kin Rejected
NewsMax.com Wires
Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2003/10/17/195352.shtml

As demonstrated, Newsmax.com is willing to use the word "comatose" when it benefits them, but attacks others when it is used by opponents. Totally dishonest!!!

How more disgusting can they get? Okay try this one:

N.Y. Times a Step Closer to Losing Pulitzer for Stalinist Propaganda
... at bottom of article...

I'm neither liberal or conservative. It is okay if I'm banned from this forum. I just had to get this information to a group of people who would help expose this latest farce from the conservative media. It is bad enough that Hannity allows Schiavo's parents come on Fox and accuse the husband of attepted murder by strangulation! It is bad enough when Worldnetdaily maligns Rush Limbaugh's accuser after criticizing the Democrats for attacking Clinton's accusers. I can't take the hypocrisy anymore. They've lost all credibility with me forever!!! From now on, all my news will come from John Stewart's Daily Show.

Thanks for your time,
Jeff Clark

5. Raised conservative baptist, now recovering...
The right wingers push me further and further from the Republican party everyday. They've been highjacked by extremists. IT makes me fear the next election. I don't see how the Democrats are gonna' win the election, which means that these religious zealots will have 4 more years to inject their self-righteous bantering into the minds of Americans. Who knows, maybe Judge Roy Moore will get appointed soon. I mean, this is really upsetting. The whole Schiavo case and many other stories lately have completely extinguished any belief I had with the Republicans. Those who claim to be the most righteous are the ones to be feared (or hated) the most.

He got over it and converted to Judaism.
We are all quite upset by the ways of the world we live in now.
Maybe you can convince your friends.
Maybe you can help turn some folks from the dark side.

3. This is the kind of red meat we love
No reason for you to be banned. Welcome. Stick around for a while. There are a lot of Daily Show fans here, if that makes a difference.

4. Welcome Sleestak
It matters not what you used to think as long as you do think. I feel anyone who actually thinks can't but help feel exactly like you do. The Right's hypocrisy knows no bounds. I look forward to many more posts from you. :toast:  :bounce: :bounce:

6. welcome sleestak
:hi:

Nice pull of stories and how they are framed. There is definitely a strong bent that crosses beyond bias to propoganda from more and more news sources.

Stick around if you can. I appreciate the "Latest Breaking News" forum here because a) members scour multiple news sources and bring the stories here - and over time it gets easier to get closer to what is really going on, because one can look across stories over time to see what is consistent and what is not.

Coming from a liberal perspective, for me I also enjoy reading the ongoing commentary - but when in a hurry I just skim the headlines and read the stories. So if we trend towards more 'liberal' in our commentary - you may still find going through the LBN forum to be one way to look across news stories and coverage.

Folks from different view points (granted center to left, but some libertarians) are often here - and don't really get into problems if they do not consistently push conservative ideology or 'buzz terms'. I rather gather from your keen eye of the slanted coverage, and distate for it, that you aren't likely to do that. Stick around - you might even like it here. If not - thanks for this post.

7. Posts like that sure as hell won't get you banned.
NewsMax is about the sleaziest 'news' site on the Web. They had no problem whatsoever calling Clinton a murderer, traitor, thief, or child molestor, based on innuendo, anonymous sources, etc but I think if George W gunned down Howard Dean on live TV they'd post an article blaming Clinton.

10. Well, when you consider that Fox won a court case that ruled that
they were allowed to lie, then you really have to wonder . . .

And don't forget the department in the Pentagon set up to spread lies, then they told us "No, we're not going to do that." (so was that a lie?)

11. Welcome.
I left the Republican party a long time ago over the Iran-Contra and arms for hostages shenanigans and the self-righteous attitudes of those caught in the scandal.
