4. Personally, I'm livid at the MWO people!
I no longer use their site since they jumped on the bandwagon of bashing Cynthia McKinney over bogus quotes and then refused to publicly apologize. Even after being shown, over & over, that the charges she was supposed to have made are now actually being made by others, who have received no criticism at all.

Sorry, that wasn't germane to the issue of their site being down, but I felt compelled to put that out there!

8. I e-mailed them earlier about this
it's pretty hypocritical of them to lambast journalists for their whoring when they've turned into a bunch of whores themselves.

I suspect that the people behind MWO are now employed by the Clark campaign in some capacity.

it sure would explain all the "vacations" they've taken the past month or so.

13. Wow! I know
democrats.com endorsed Kucinich awile ago but they seem to play fair with the other candidates.

MWO have something down further about Dean and say ..<snip>
"The candidate who emerges with the best chances of winning the general election will not necessarily be the one who is most responsible for his own viability. Howard Dean and Bob Graham have done more than any of the other candidates to diminish the credibility of the White House squatter, and their aggressive criticism has allowed the Democrats to become competitive despite the state-run media and months of abject Democratic spinelessness following 9/11.

As for the establishment-outsider question, we believe that is a largely Rove-Media Whore inspired dichotomy and reject it. We couldn't care less whether the nominee is new to politics or has been serving in Washington for decades, because we do not believe that factor would appreciably affect the candidate's method of governing or competence as President, and do not believe it will influence voters on election day."

they don't care what we think, unless it's pro-Wesley.

Have you noticed they only print letters from adoring Clark supporters.

15. yes
I have noticed that.

before the primary season began I had no problem with the fact that the site was run anonymously… though the consensus opinion seemed to be that it was run by Democratic "political operatives".

now that the primary season has begun in earnest, and they appear to be pushing one candidate above all others, it only seems right that they publicly acknowledge any affiliations they have to any of the campaigns.

16. Political Insiders
they've always known way too much to be just outsiders. There's always been lots of secrecy about who runs the site, who funds the site. Maybe it's the DLC.

18. Now I won't bother to go there.
Let's see, how many forums are now heavy in the Clark camp? Forums that I think would be much more effective if they did not take a definite stand? Too many, no names. It is sad when one candidate takes over any board.

I just won't try to get there now. Thanks for the responses.

20. I also cannot access MWO...
as of today, and only today, and I am from Florida and use Roadrunner. I called Roadrunner tech support and they could access it even though I cannot, and they assured me that they are not blocking the site. Their solution (which makes no sense to me) is to delete all my cookies, saying that my cookies are overloaded. I do not want to do this since I have many cookies that store passwords, etc., and re-loading all of them would be very troublesome. Plus, I can reach all other sites without any problems, and one would think that a "cookie overload", a problem I have never seen mentioned in all of my readings, would affect more than one site.

I can access the site if I go through http://www.megaproxy.com/ and input the MWO address in the box shown to "test their service". That tells me that there is a problem with Roadrunner, but they insist that is not the case. I emailed MWO so they would know. If I get a response I will report back. This is very strange.

22. From Florida on Roadrunner also, I will call today.
That is weird. I double checked my security settings, can't find the MWO cookie by name, refuse to delete them all. It has to be Roadrunner.

23. I also checked cookies...
and cannot find the MWO cookie by name either. I looked in the cookie folder which was quite tedious since there are so many. Also did a search on my computer and found none listed as MWO or mediawhoresonline. Anyone who is especially computer savvy have any ideas?

28. I've got the same problem
Can't get on directly, but was able to through megaproxy.

I'll have to try it at home this evening

Horse has been so erratic that I don't use it as a primary site. Their page is undated, and parts of it go unupdated for periods of time. Not to mention the suddeen and inexplicable "vacations".

24. Working just fine for me. As for Pro-Clark...
MWO has also been "pro-others" over the last 6-9 months. If there is a Pro-Clark angle today (or lately), maybe it's due to all the anti-Clark media spin? That is their mission, after all, to debunk the whore press. Isn't it? And if you look at today's page objectively it appears that is what they're doing with contrasting photos of Clark/Bush.
Full disclosure: Undecided, but ABB, except Lieberman.

25. I just got there. An excellent famous site has just lost credibility.
Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 10:58 AM by madfloridian
I like Clark just fine, but I would feel the same way if Dean were plastered all over the page.

Ever since I started on this politicking stuff, after the steamroller ran over us here in Florida, I eagerly checked at MWO for the latest outrages of the media.

I am sorry, they just lost me. That is way over the top.

;(
