My Partner Is Teaching A Class On Hickam AFB This Week. He Tells Me......
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 10:07 PM by arwalden
... that they had the whole base buttoned up tight as a drum in preparation for the Chimp flying in. Nobody in. Nobody out. Windows closed. Shades pulled. LITERALLY!!! Do NOT GO OUTSIDE!! (they were instructed)

Everything was frozen. Nobody (unless invited and placed) was permitted to go anywhere NEAR where the Chimp would be. Roads coming in were closed at 7AM (+/-) for his 8AM arrival.

This doesn't sound like normal "security" to me, unless they are TRULY TRULY taking precautions against some sort of immanent threat. Or unless they KNOW that a crowd of military personnel and civilian employees might not be as blindly adoring as they would like.

What exactly are they afraid of?

So that totally FU'ed my partner's schedule for the day as the AWOL Chimp insults the memory of the brave and heroic sailors who gave their life at Pearl Harbor and who are entombed on the Arizona.

Turns out NOW that the Chimp is having a reception at the SAME HOTEL that my partner is staying at in Honolulu.

Just talked to him a few moments ago and he tells me that protesters are EVERYWHERE and LOUD!!!! I wonder if you'll hear about the protesters on the news.

5. A tumor.
That's the "Oblongs"... they live by a chemical dump. Pickles is bald, her husband has no arms or legs. Milo has one eye. The daughter has a tumor. The twins are conjoined.

9. He said he took some pictures of them...
I'll post them when he returns home next week. --- Apparently they are being WELL controlled (corralled?) and "out-of-the-way".

Must be one of those free-speech-zones we keep hearing so much about.

12. actually, it does sound pretty normal
This sound very much similar to the sort of precautions taken where I live (Nashville) when V.P. Gore would fly in.

13. I had a great uncle
who was stationed at Hickam during Pearl Harbor, ended up taking shrapnel. He survived and went on to fly missions in the Pacific during WWII and the Korean War.

I'm sorry Bush is soiling that hallow ground.

14. My husband was working Bush's last PA fundraiser
He was told beforehand they would be locked in for several hours before Bush* arrived and even if someone had a heart attack during those hours, THEY WOULD NOT BE LET OUT AND NO EMTS WOULD BE LET IN. Our lives are meaningless to the regime.

15. You know, when I lived on Hickam in the late '70s, Carter came to town.
He landed at Hickam, and my family (and a bunch more) went out to see him. I was right in front along the restraining line, and got to shake his hand, along with Roslynn's.

Strange, but I don't remember the whole place being locked down.
