Just Called My CBS Affiliate About the Upcoming Reagan Movie
Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 02:00 PM by CO Liberal
KKTV, Colorado Springs. I told the operator that I was sure they were getting a lot of calls asking that the movie NOT be shown, and I wanted to request that the movie SHOULD be shown. She told me that as a network affiliate, they were required to clear the movie for broadcast.

People like Hannity, Michael Reagan, and Rush's substitutes (like Matt Sludge today) have been trying to enflame the dittoheads, but it looks like it will get them nowhere.

If you want to see this movie, call YOUR CBS affiliate and let them know.

3. The right-wing onslaught may backfire big.
We remember this kind of thing happening six, eight months ago leading up to the war where they try to squash a dissenting message, and they used all sorts of rhetoric about criticizing a war that soldiers are dying for, giving aid and comfort to the enemy, etc.. Perhaps now they are emboldened by what they accomplished with their efforts back then; it seemed that a lot of non-far-right people went along with it. However, they forget that this time, with the Reagan movie, they don't have the wartime excuses that they did back then, so all this yelling basically points out that what they /really/ don't like is people disagreeing with them, which I don't think the non-far-right-wingers will stand for quite nearly as much.

4. They are giving the movie some great free advertising.
It's like O'Lielly ragging on Al Franken's book.

8. OK, anyone and everyone...lets send out those "pro" e-mails.
If anyone out there for the Peace Rally tomorrow in DC is surfing this board, we need you e-mail CBS also. These RWingnuts are stifling dissent, and any view that counters myths about their favorite icons. They have essentially squashed anymore talk about Rush and his illegal drug abuse; the Plame story is all but dead; the CIA is being set up to take the blame for Bush lies about Iraq; any dissent about Israeli policy or attempts to present the views of others in Israel who disagee with the monster Sharon is essentially cut off by accusing the dissenters of "anti-Semitism" (a phrase which is rapidly losing its power to stop debate because of how often and baseless it is being used); and anyone who criticizes Bush or our military is accused of being unpatriotic or aiding the enemy. How much more of this shit are be going to take?

9. Did she give an email address?
http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.shtml has a form you can fill out, but I wonder if there's an even better place.

10. So... let's get busy here!
She said e-mails need to be sent to CBS direct

And afterwards (if it's any good), send thanks to CBS, the local stations, and to the various sponsors for providing worthwhile and informative TV programming.

How silly to censor a program that no one knows much about in the first place. Are they jealous that no conservative type thought of doing a film on Reagan before now?

Why, also, would conservatives be upset at Reagan blaming AIDS on "sinful behavior" when that's exactly the sort of thing most of them are saying to this day?

Heck, even if the program is bad, it's GOT to be better than Fear Factor!

11. Who cares - it's a freaking network miniseries
Focusing on Nancy Regan. She is portrayed as a witch, so what. Big surprise.

I swear I would go see Gigli before I would ever watch that shit.
