Republican friend back from Afghanistan, his wife is in Baghdad
My friend is in the Air Force and he was in the Stan since June. He told me it's really fucked up there and there is a lot of fighting still. No infrastructure to speak of yet in Afghansitan. But the big news is that his wife is in Baghdad and she says it's worse than what the media has reported! She was the only survivor of an ambush about 3 weeks ago! She was all set to be discharged earlier this year but they stopped it so they could send her unit(an MP Company in the Montana National Guard) to Iraq. She won't be back until May and she is REALLY PISSED and can't wait to get out.

My friend is a bigtime Republican/Bush supporter but he told me that we're in Iraq because of lies and that he's really pissed off at Bush and so are most everyone else he's talked too. The worm is turning folks! :bounce:

I will be talking with him again in the coming days so I will find out more about what's going on in Afghanistan and Iraq and will give everyone here an update.

1. I hope she can stay safe until May and I don't want to hear bad news
But it's like we said things like this were going to happen and now somehow it's our fault that they are. Thanks for the update.

2. The entire National Guard thing just gets me!
They are the "National" Guard not "International" Guard. But that is why the evil little simpleton signed and kept the "state of emergency" for our country in place after 9/11, IIRC.

I have four packed boxes of everything to send. Why
don't I send one to her and her buddies? Let them know
which side cares about them. I would be glad to do
this.

RV (message me if you think this is a good idea>

7. That's a great idea! It will be about a week before I chat with him
again and I'll ask for her address then.

5. After listening to the focus group yesterday, I don't have much faith

in your friend changing his mind about Bush. Everyone of those who cited many problems with Bush, including his lies ended up by saying that they would vote for him again. The show stopper for me was when one woman was asked what she would like to ask the Dem candidates (whom she didn't even recognize BTW). She said she would a like to ask them what their position was on the economy and national security. Then, at another time when she was asked what was negative about the candidates she said something like 'all they do is talk talk talk.' Go figure!

That focus group was surreal! If they represent America we are truly f**ked!!

6. I have more faith that he will change his mind because his ass
and his wife's ass are on the front lines. When I talk to him again sometime in the next week, I will find out more what he thinks about Bush. What gives me optimism is that he volunteered his feelings about Bush and it shocked me to hear him say that.

9. They represent a very small but loud segment
of America. Don't you think the people who selected the folks for that focus group, didn't do screening to get a majority of rabid Bu$h supporters. The question is how many 100's of people did they have to reject to find enough to make up a group?

11. That was exactly my impression.
There is no hope, these are voters and they don’t know their a**es from wholes in the ground! How can we win with ideas when the people who are going to make the choice don’t know what is going on at even a preschool level?

It was very, very depressing. I ate a lot today and I’d rather have abused drugs.
