I need some help here.

I'm on a (non-political) mailing list where the adminsitrators just ruled that one cannot refer to the current occupant of the White House as the "POTUS" because the term is insulting. (But what if the POTUS was appointed by the SCOTUS?)

I'd like to point out to the administrators that POTUS isn't insulting, especially when compared to some of the other names * is called. I'd like as full a list as possible. So far, I have the following:

If you ask me, "POTUS" is even more respectful than just calling him "Bush," in terms of the dignity of the office (the person and his policies aside). It is, after all, his title. If you were a teenager in high school, you might call a peer by his or her last name (as in, "Hey, Fox, get over here!"). But when referring to a President in any formal communication, in my opinion, one should either say "POTUS" or, at least once, use the person's title with their name.

15. It's not a political list...

...and most of the rules limiting political name-calling were instituted in response to several right-wingers ignoring its non-political nature and trying to turn it into Free Republic Junior. I would say most of the rules instituted make a lot of sense, however, the notion of "POTUS" being insulting strikes me as rather odd.
