TV or Newspapers? Which is more truthful ?

The spoken or the written word? It has long been my opinion that much of what is written is assisted by the heart. Unlike the spoken word, the hand will sometimes write the truth when the head will not permit the tongue to speak it. In that respect, I think the written word is superior to the spoken word. That is why I tend to put more credibility in newspapers than television reporting.

However, it is not always so. The written word can be used by certain idealogues to promote one idea over another, even though their heart may tell them that what they are writing is not necessarily true. And I think most folks know the degree of truth in every word they may write. It is only the degree of deceit in their hearts that betray the written word.

1. Depends On Who Owns Them... But The Written Word Has More Detail...

usually, and can be researched / verified after the fact. TV news is just the headlines and the first one or two paragraphs of details. Fluff. Quickie stuff, then it's on to the next story.

I'm skeptical of both.

Neither works hard to tell the truth anymore, but there are likely more examples of truthful reporting in print.

5. In The US?

To paraphrase J Jonah Jameson in "Spiderman"; A newspaper is never guilty about liebel (sp?), it's slander when it appears in print and we pay our lawyers enough to confuse the issue and get us off the hook.

I think I'll stick with my shortwave reciever and internet access as primary sources of honest information. I sure can't get it from ShrubCo!

Give me the days of the tough guys and gals who were cynical and skeptical. Now we are afflicted with media "superstars" who run with the wealthy and powerful, and have NO CLUE about the average American. That's why they cover Britney Spears, rather than Dick Cheney (BA, Journalism; also, a law degree here). The media today? pitooey.
